Xavier Parent – One of the most exciting offensive players available in the draft. He is an elite skater who likes to attack the zone at full speed. Parent scored 55 points in 34 games in 2016-17. Excellent stickhandling skills, great shot and fast release are some of his key attributes. CSR rank: 4th – HockeyProspect rank: 6th

Justin Barron – At 6-foot-1 and 179 pounds, he is an offensively gifted player with great hockey intelligence. Barron produced 25 points in 38 games played for the Halifax Macs. He makes very good decisions with the puck and is an effortless skater. CSR rank: 6th – HockeyProspect rank: 5th

Alex Newhook – This selection could turn into the steal of the draft. Newhook was the fifth overall ranked player but slipped due to his reluctance to commit to the QMJHL. The talented forward from Newfoundland scored 74 points in 33 games last year with York-Simcoe. Halifax was able to draft the 4th-5th-and-6th ranked players.  Scouts call him a highly skilled and creative offensive player who also exhibits excellent defensive skills. Cole Stewart – Another excellent skater, Stewart can accelerate very quickly and plays a tenacious and creative game. The New Brunswick native uses his hard work to create chances around the net. He has played at both center and right wing. CSR rank: 33rd – HockeyProspect rank: 58th

Kyle Petten – The left winger has the potential to be a very useful player in the future for the Mooseheads. Scouts are excited by his playmaking abilities and his compete level. The Bay Roberts, NL native is tough to knock off the puck and has a high hockey IQ. CSR rank: 27th – HockeyProspect rank: 49th

Felix Gascon – The defenceman was a teammate of Xavier Parent with the Esther-Blondin Phenix. He makes smart decisions when under pressure and uses his awareness to make good outlet passes. He does not appear to be ready to make the jump to the QMJHL yet but he has plenty of potential as an all-around defenceman. CSR rank: 75th – HockeyProspect rank: 40th

Arlo Merritt – Another potential steal for the Mooseheads, Merritt was ranked 13th overall by Central Scouting but slipped due to his unknown commitment. He is a big forward at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, scouts love his size and say he has all of the necessary tools to become a power forward in the QMJHL. He’s considered to have raw talent with good presence around the net although Merritt will need to continue to improve on his skating and effort away from the puck. Maxime Emery – The goaltender played for the Lanaudiers Pioneers in Midget Espoir. He is 6-feet-tall and 174 pounds. Emery posted a goals against average of 3.67 in 18 games played. He is considered a project but scouts see potential and he will add some depth to the goaltending position in the organization. Unranked.

Miguel Duchaine – The Bromont, QC native is a versatile player who has seen time at both defence and forward. He has good size at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. Duchaine is 17-years-old and scored five points in 14 games with Magog. Unranked

Gavin Hart – A small but impactful player, Hart is speedy with a great competitive streak in him. The Mooseheads scouting staff were thrilled he was available at this spot. The Truro native is at his best when he drives to the net and wins the battle to the rebounds. He made headlines for his Game 7 overtime goal for Pictou County in the opening round of the NSMMHL playoffs. CSR: Rounds 9-12 – HockeyProspect rank: 191st

Zack Jones – The younger brother of Mooseheads veteran Cooper Jones, Zack was the leading scorer for the Boston Bandits U16 team with 13 points (4 goals 9 assists) in 18 games. Unranked.

Matthew Boldy – The Mooseheads took a chance on the Boston College commit who played for both Dexter Prep school and the Cape Cod Whalers U16 last season. Boldy is a good offensive player with 26 points in 29 games for Dexter while he dominated at Cape Cod with 15 goals and 10 assists in 13 games. Unranked.
