Eagles win, now within 2 points of Wildcats in East
The hottest team in the QMJHL kept up their winning ways Sunday at the Avenir Centre as Cape Breton downed the Wildcats 3-1 for their 7th victory in a row before 5,000 fans on St. Paddy’s Day.
Both goaltenders were Stars of the Game with First Star Nick Ruccia making 27 saves and 3rd Star Keegan Warren stopping 32 shots.
The Eagles held a 3-0 lead until the dying seconds when Etienne Morin scored his 12th of the season, from Natan Grenier and Julius Sumpf, on the powerplay at 19:56 of the third period.

Moncton maintains third place in the Eastern Conference with three games remaining. The Cats hold a 2-point lead on Cape Breton with the Eagles down to their final two games. Chicoutimi and Rimouski both trail the Wildcats by four points entering the regular season’s final week.
THIS WEEK: The Cats are in Saint John Wednesday night at TD Station at 7pm and Friday night at Bathurst to face the Titan. ‘Fan Appreciation Day’ is this Saturday, March 23, at 4pm against the Titan, to wrap up the regular season.
