Wildcats win regular season title; playoff match-ups set in stone
BOUCHERVILLE, Sunday, March 19, 2006 (QMJHL) – The regular season came to an end this afternoon as all 18 teams were in action. All but one of the games will begin on Friday, March 24th with the exception being the Val-d’Or vs. Quebec series, which will start on Thursday, March 23rd. Here are the playoff match-ups.

In the Eastern division, the Moncton Wildcats were crowned the regular season champions (Jean Rougeau Trophy) thanks to their 107 point season. They also win the Robert Lebel Trophy awarded to the team with the best goals-against-average. The Wildcats will play the Victoriaville Tigres (8th), who were transferred to the Eastern division following their 9th place finish in the Western division standings, in the first round.

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan (2nd) will battle the PEI Rocket (7th).

Finally, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (3rd) will entertain the St. John’s Fog Devils, while the Lewiston MAINEiacs will host the Halifax Mooseheads.

The Quebec Remparts, winners of the Western division title thanks to a 16-3 thrashing of the Rimouski Océanic, will host the Val-d’Or Foreurs (8th) in the first round. Alexander Radulov scored an astonishing seven goals and four assists in the contest. Thus, Radulov secures the League’s scoring title with 152 points. The Remparts also lock-up the Luc Robitaille Trophy, awarded to the team having scored the most regular season goals (349).

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens (2nd) will battle the Baie-Comeau Drakkar (7th). Moreover, forward Maxime Boisclair finished the season with the most goals, scoring 70.

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (3rd) will host the Shawinigan Cataractes (6th). Finally, the Gatineau Olympiques (4th) are set to confront the Drummondville Voltigeurs (5th).
