Drakkar take it early in OT, forcing Game 7 Tuesday
This thrilling 1st Round QMJHL playoff series between the Wildcats and Drakkar will move to a 7th and final game Tuesday night at Avenir Centre at 7 pm.
In Monday’s dramatic 6th game, Baie Comeau took it 4-3 on Matyas Melovsky’s OT winner only 23 seconds into the extra frame, stunning the 3800 fans at Avenir Centre.
The game had its dramatic moments as the Wildcats forced overtime on Vincent Labelle’s goal with only 12 seconds remaining in the third period. The Cats were killing a penalty and had strategically pulled goaltender Jacob Steinman for the extra player, despite being shorthanded.
The Wildcats also blitzed Olivier Ciarlo with 51 shots — he made 48 saves, many spectacular. The Drakkar had 27 back at Jacob Steinman. This was the fourth overtime game of the series. Other Wildcats goals came from Charles Beaudoin (2nd) and Yoan Loshing (5th).
