MONDAY READ: Titan top three in league standings, defencemen on NHL radar

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan is among the top three teams in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, Monday morning. Bathurst is No. 3 in league standing, posting a 10-5-0-0 record for 20 points in 15 games.
Moncton (11-2-1-0) sits in the first spot with 23 points and Drummondville (11-3-0-1) is in second with 23 points. Rimouski (9-4-0-1) and Rouyn-Noranda (8-3-1-2) are in fourth and fifth, respectively with 19 points each.
The Titan is second overall in the Maritimes Division.
Bathurst is four points above the No. 3 and No. 4 placed Sea Dogs (8-7-0-0) and Mooseheads (7-6-2-0), both of which have 16 points. Cape Breton (6-6-0-1) is in the fifth spot in the league and the Islanders (3-10-1-1) are in sixth place.
In conference standings, the Titan is third in the Eastern Conference.
The Titan is one point behind the No. 2 Oceanic and three points shy of first-place Wildcats. Bathurst is a point above Baie-Comeau, in fourth, and two points above Chicoutimi, which is in fifth with 18 points. Saint John, Halifax, Cape Breton, Quebec, and Charlottetown round-out the rest of the conference in the sixth through 10th spots.
Titan split games against Eagles
Bathurst split a pair of road game against Cape Breton this past week.
The Titan lost 3-0 to the Eagles Thursday night, before bouncing back to beat Cape Breton 2-0 on Friday.
David-Alexandre Coulombe and Colby Huggan scored the two goals for Bathurst Friday night. Coulombe netted the game winner in the second period, while Huggan scored an empty net insurance goal in the final frame.
Joshua Fleming stopped 33 of the Eagles shots on goal Friday evening in Sydney at Centre 200. He was named the first Star of the Game for the shutout victory.
Titan on NHL radar
Two Titan players are on the NHL radar.
Last week defencemen Will Reynolds and Noah Laberge cracked the NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary players to watch list.
Reynolds, who’s six-foot-three and 182-pounds, was drafted 51st overall in the third round of the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft by Rouyn-Noranda. Reynolds – who is in his second year in the league and joined the Titan last season – currently has two points in 15 games and a plus/minus of three.
Laberge was drafted 67th overall in the fourth round of the 2022 draft by Bathurst. Now in his second year competing for the Titan, the six-foot-one, 181-pound blueliner has three points in 14 games to date and a plus/minus of eight.
Huggan, Perron mark milestones
This past month Huggan and defenceman, Emile Perron each marked league milestones.
On Oct. 18 Perron celebrated 200 games played and on Oct. 14, Huggan celebrated 100 career points.
Fleming, Huggan and St-Onge among league leaders
Fleming continues to be one of the top five goalies within league leaders. He’s fifth in goals against average (2.29), fourth in save percentage (0.927) and second in wins (nine).
Mathieu St-Onge leads the short-handed goals category with two and Huggan is fifth overall in game winning goals, with three.
