SEA DOGS PROSPECTS HEADED TO TEAM ATLANTIC SELECTION CAMP
July 9, 2013,
HALIFAX, NS – Four newly-added prospects in the depth charts of the Saint John Sea Dogs are headed to the Team Atlantic World Under-17 Selection Camp.
The Team Atlantic program announced today the names of the players who will be taking part in the Team Atlantic summer evaluation camp for the Male Under 17 program. The Male Team Atlantic summer camp roster is comprised of 44 players from each of the four Atlantic provinces. These players are chosen from the four Atlantic branch High Performance Programs.
All four Saint John prospects were selected in this year’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League entry draft in June. Topping the list is high-skill forward Nathan Noel, selected 3rd overall by Saint John. The 16-year-old Newfoundlander played the 2012-13 season with Shattuck St. Mary’s Midget Prep and put up 10 goals and 30 assists in 52 games.
The Dogs second first-round pick – Will Thompson, 17th overall – is also headed to the selection camp. Thompson had a solid season with Rothesay Netherwood School, playing 47 games and posting 11 goals and 25 assists along with 40 penalty minutes.
Joining the first-rounders at the selection camp are goaltender Christopher Smith (5th round, 77th overall) and defenceman Bailey Webster (7th round, 113th overall). Smith is played 14 games for the St. John’s Privateers Midget AAA squad and posted a 2.76 goals-against-average. Webster hails from Kelvin Grove, PE and in 35 games with the Cornwall Thunder scored twice and added eight helpers.
This year, the Team Atlantic summer camp will be taking place at the Millennium Centre at St. FX University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia from July 14th to 18th. The Male World Under 17 tournament is being held this year in Sydney, Nova Scotia from December 29th, 2013 to January 4th, 2014.
Intra-squad games will take place July 16th at 8pm, July 17th at 8pm and July 18th at 12:30pm.
