MacAULAY SIGNS WITH HAMILTON

MONTREAL, QC – Another Saint John Sea Dog took a big step toward the show as Stephen MacAulay signed a one-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens American Hockey League affiliate Hamilton Bulldogs. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement signed on Monday were not disclosed.

MacAulay spent four-and-a-half seasons with the Saint John Sea Dogs before being dealt to the Halifax Mooseheads at the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League trade deadline to finish off his impressive junior career. The 21-year-old is the only player to ever participate in four QMJHL President Cup Finals and win three championships and compete in three CHL Memorial Cup Championships and capture two titles.

In 16 post-season games with Halifax last season, MacAulay produced 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) and 24 penalty minutes. In 25 regular season games with the Mooseheads, the Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native recorded 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists) and 16 penalty minutes. Prior to being traded to the Halifax Mooseheads on January 5th, 2013, the 6’2”, 190-pound right-winger registered 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) and 36 penalty minutes in 34 games with the Saint John Sea Dogs.

In five junior seasons with the Sea Dogs (2008-2013) and Mooseheads (2012-2013), MacAulay compiled 155 points (71 goals, 84 assists) in 280 regular season games and 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists) in 75 post-season games.

Olivier LeBlanc headed for Under-18 Selection Camp

Also of note this weekend, Sea Dogs defenceman Olivier Leblanc was named to Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Selection Camp roster Friday. The 17-year-old D-man suited up in 60 games with the Dogs in his rookie campaign and scored four times while adding 14 assists.

This is not the first time LeBlanc has suited up for Canada. Playing for Team Quebec at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, LeBlanc scored once and added three assists for four points in six games.
