Sea Dogs to host Military Appreciation Night honouring veterans and military members
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs will proudly host Military Appreciation Night on Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m., when the team hosts the Quebec Remparts at TD Station.
Taking place one day after Remembrance Day, the evening will recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve Canada, while providing an opportunity to give back to the local military community.
“Remembrance Day is an important time for all Canadians to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces,” said Sea Dogs President and General Manager Trevor Georgie. “With our first home game of November falling on November 12, we felt it was important that we still take the opportunity to honour them. We want this to be a night where our veterans, military members and their families know how much they are appreciated by our organization and our community.”
As part of this commitment, and in light of the recent tragedy in Wainwright, $5 from every ticket sold through the promo code CAF will be donated to Soldier On, a program supporting ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans through sport and recreation. The initiative also reflects the organization’s solidarity with the Wainwright community during this difficult time. The CAF promo code will be live starting Friday, November 6 at noon.
The evening will also feature the return of acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter Terry Kelly, who will perform at a Sea Dogs game for the first time in more than a decade. A Member of the Order of Canada and seven-time East Coast Music Award winner, Kelly will perform several songs, including his renowned Remembrance Day tribute, “A Pittance of Time,” which serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of honouring those who have served.
In appreciation of their service and sacrifice, the Sea Dogs are donating 200 complimentary tickets to active Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and military families in the region.
