Sea Dogs announce roster moves following conclusion of QMJHL trade period
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have made a number of roster moves following the conclusion of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League trade period, the team announced today.
Forwards Olivier Groulx and Benjamin Beaudry, along with defencemen Olivier Duhamel and Jeremie Richard, have been recalled from their respective teams for the remainder of the season.
Groulx, who was acquired by the Sea Dogs on the final day of the trade period, sits fourth in the Quebec Under-18 Hockey League in scoring with 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points in 26 games. The six-foot, 181-pound left winger had six points in six games with Team Quebec at the 2023 Canada Games. Groulx was a second round pick of Shawinigan at the 2023 QMJHL Draft.
Beaudry is a five-foot-eleven, 185-pound forward from St-Eustache, Quebec. He has spent the first half of the season in the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League playing a total of 30 games with the Terrebonne Cobras and Montreal Phoenix registering 16 points. The 17-year-old was a ninth round selection of the Sea Dogs in 2022.
Duhamel, 16, totaled five goals and nine assists in 31 games with the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains in the Quebec Under-18 Hockey League this season. The product of Longueuil, Quebec was selected 33rd overall by Saint John during the most recent QMJHL Draft in Sherbrooke.
Richard, a 17-year-old from Moncton, New Brunswick, rejoins the team after playing 20 games with the Sea Dogs during the 2022-23 season. The six-foot-one, 198-pound blueliner started the season on the injured list before joining the Amherst Ramblers in the MHL. He had four points in 17 games with the Ramblers.
Additionally, the team has released 19-year-old forward Kency Pierre-Noël from the roster. The Montreal, Quebec native joined the Sea Dogs as a free agent and posted seven points in 29 games this season.
