RECAP: Wildcats surge late to down Sea Dogs
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs fell 8-4 to the Moncton Wildcats on Flames Night at TD Station.
A wild first period ended with the score tied 3-3. Alex Donovan opened the scoring 3:54 into the game but Moncton responded with back-to-back tallies. Saint John got late goals from Egan Beveridge at 15:29 and Zach Morin at 16:50 to pull even after one.
Early in the second, the Wildcats grabbed the lead just 17 seconds in. Matthew Krayer scored on a partial breakaway to tie it 4-4 at 19:41 on a beautiful setup from Alexis Joseph.
Moncton unfortunately pulled away in the third with four goals, including a power play marker that stood as the game winner and a pair from Kuzma Voronin. The Wildcats added one more late to close it out.
Final shots were 53-26 for Moncton. Matthew Krayer was named the game’s second star.
