RECAP: Sea Dogs unable to solve Rousseau in loss to Huskies
ROUYN-NORANDA, QC – The Saint John Sea Dogs wrapped up their three-game road trip with a 4-0 loss to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Sunday.
Rouyn-Noranda opened the scoring midway through the first period on a beautiful goal by Antonin Verreault who fooled Sea Dogs netminder Patrick Leaver with a perfect shot into the top corner. 11 seconds later Mathis Perron made it 2-0 for the home side with his fifth of the season. That would be the end of Leaver’s night as Justin Robinson took over between the pipes for Saint John. The Sea Dogs settled things down after that outshooting the Huskies 18-10 in the frame but were unable to beat goaltender William Rousseau.
Louis-Philippe Fontaine extended the Rouyn-Noranda lead to three goals at the 8:02 mark of the second period sneaking one past Robinson at the side of the net. Bill Zonnon rounded out the scoring 10:58 into the third period with his fourth of the campaign giving the Huskies a 4-0 shutout win.
The Sea Dogs now return home where they’ll play back-to-back games at TD Station next weekend. First they’ll welcome the Moncton Wildcats to town on Saturday night at 7:00pm for Kardi Night with Canadian rapper and Canada’s Got Talent judge Kardinal Offishall.
