RECAP: Sea Dogs complete comeback for 6-3 win over Titan
BATHURST, NB – It was a great night for the Saint John Sea Dogs first line as Tyler Peddle would score two goals and Ben Cross collected three assists. Jacob Beaulieu netted his first and second goal of the season tonight as well.
Nate Tivey and Elliot Dubé got the other two lone goals for the Saint John Sea Dogs to win their third game on the road in a row, improving their record to 3-2-0-0.
Acadie-Bathurst goals came from Francois-James Buteau, Dawson Sharkey, and Colby Huggan.
GAME SUMMARY
Kicking off the scoring at the 5:34 mark, Elliot Dubé picked up a turnover behind the Titan net, quickly found Matteo Mann out front and he one-timed a shot that bounced off Tyler Peddle’s leg to squeak past goaltender Joshua Fleming.
The Titan tied the game at one on the powerplay when Blake Pilgrim-Edwards made a hard pass to Dawson Sharkey who deflected it five-hole on Justin Robinson. With just under four minutes remaining in the first, Dubé sent a pass to Ben Cross who showed some hustle, winning a battle for the puck and setting up Peddle who found space blocker side just inside the post for his second goal of the game making it 2-1.
Early in the second, Titan forward Tyson Goguen fed captain Colby Huggan who steamed in all alone and tucked it under Robinson’s glove side arm knotting it at two. Huggan made a fancy pass to François-James Buteau at 11:49 and the Acadie-Bathurst defender dangled through the Dogs before putting a shot off the far post and in to take the lead, 3-2.
4:09 into the third with only 15 seconds remaining in the Sea Dogs powerplay, Cross set-up Dubé who was all alone and went glove side high on Fleming, tying the game at three. Three minutes later, Olivier Groulx won the footrace to the puck in the Titan zone, immediately centering the puck to Jacob Beaulieu for his first goal of the year to go up 4-3.
Nate Tivey would make Acadie-Bathurst pay after they turned over the puck at the blue line at 11:37. Tivey initially shot left-pad side, proceeded to pick up his own rebound, and then buried his second goal of the season.
The Sea Dogs weren’t done yet. Tivey made his presence felt once again going end-to-end and firing a hard wrist-shot that bounced in off Beaulieu for his second goal of the game. Saint John extended their win streak to three games with a mighty come-from-behind 6-3 victory on the road in Bathurst.
