RECAP: Gravel records another shutout as Sea Dogs down Titan
BATHURST, NB – The Saint John Sea Dogs snapped the Acadie-Bathurst Titan’s five-game win streak Friday night. The Titan were unable to get one past Charles-Édward Gravel, who made 25 saves and recorded his second shutout of the year. The win tonight pushes the Sea Dogs record to 7-4-0-0.
Rookie forward Florian Schenk scored the game-winner and his first goal of the season, while Tyler Peddle and Zach Morin were the other two goal scorers for the Sea Dogs.
GAME SUMMARY
After a scoreless first period, the visitors got on the board early in the second. A turnover by the Titan in their own zone led to Tyler Peddle finding Florian Schenk in front, and he lifted the puck over the pad of Mathis Langevin to open the scoring 2:42 into the middle period.
The Dogs got their second goal of the night on the man advantage, with less than two minutes remaining in the second. Nate Tivey fed Eriks Mateiko, who slid the puck to Peddle and unleashed a powerful one-timer beating Langevin from the top of the circle to go up 2-0.
With exactly 11 seconds left in the game, Zach Morin won a race for the puck and fired into the empty net to seal the 3-0 victory for the Sea Dogs.
