CHABOT ADDED TO TEAM QMJHL FOR CIBC CANADA/RUSSIA SERIES
SAINT JOHN – Defenceman Thomas Chabot has been add to Team QMJHL for this week’s CIBC Canada/Russia Series.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League made the announcement earlier today.
Chabot, 19, has one goal and seven assists for eight points in four games since his return to the Sea Dogs from the Ottawa Senators, which selected him in the first round (18th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The native of Ste-Marie-de-Beauce, Quebec, recorded one assist in two games for Team QMJHL in last year’s series. He also registered three assists in five games for Team Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Chabot joins forward and Saint John teammate Mathieu Joseph on Team QMJHL, which plays a team of Russian all-stars tomorrow at the Georges-Vezina Centre in Chicoutimi and Thursday at the Henry-Leonard Centre in Baie-Comeau.
The Russian team is 2-1 through three games of the annual series, having split two games against the Western Hockey League last week before winning the opening meeting with the Ontario Hockey League on Thursday. Russia and the OHL wrap up their two-game matchup tonight.
All games will be broadcast nationally on Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
