RECAP: Third-period surge lifts Foreurs past Sea Dogs
VAL-D’OR, QC – The Saint John Sea Dogs fought back from an early 2–0 deficit before falling 6-3 to the Val-d’Or Foreurs in game two of their three-game Quebec road trip Thursday night.
The Foreurs jumped out 2-0 on goals from Josh Demers and Phillipe Veilleux at 9:54 and 12:10. At 14:51, Everett Baldwin cut the lead to one, picking the blocker-side corner on the man advantage. A high-shooting first period saw Val-d’Or outshoot Saint John 16-13.
Dylan Rozzi tied the game three minutes into the second when his slap shot deflected in off a Foreurs defenceman on a pass from Baldwin. After two, Saint John trailed slightly in shots, 26-24.
The third period saw Val-d’Or break out with three quick goals within five minutes of each other. Demers and Veilleux each netted their second of the night, and Maxime Coursol added one as well. Olivers Murnieks responded at 12:35 on the power play, but Veilleux completed his hat trick with 25 seconds to play into the empty net.
