RECAP: Peddle, Fournier score for Sea Dogs in game two loss
DRUMMONDVILLE, QC – For the second night in a row the Saint John Sea Dogs kept it close for most of the game, but ultimately fell 6-2 to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in game two of their best-of-seven first round series, setting the stage for critical upcoming games in Saint John.
The match opened with intensity as Drummondville’s Peter Repcik found the net early at 3:43. The Sea Dogs quickly responded as Tyler Peddle struck on the powerplay at 9:01, concluding the first period with the score tied and the Sea Dogs trailing slightly in shots, 13-8.
In the second period, the Sea Dogs briefly took the lead as Brody Fournier, assisted by Darien Reynolds, sparked hope with a goal at 1:56. However, Noah Reinhart and Ethan Gauthier answered back for the Voltigeurs, with Gauthier capitalizing on a power play giving them a 3-2 edge.
Drummondville’s offence didn’t relent in the third period with Mikeal Diotte and Vsevolod Komarov extending their lead to wrap up the game at 6-2 and take a 2-0 series lead.
