A 40th anniversary full of emotions
Gatineau, May 31 2012 –The Gatineau Olympiques unveiled a part of the program surrounding the celebration of their 40th anniversary which will take place this coming season.
Mr. Bob Rioux, General Manager of Radio Station, CKOI 104,7, has accepted the honorary presidency for these celebrations. “We are proud that Bob Rioux has accepted this task. His presence and expertise will blend in well with the committee responsible for these festivities. The fans will surely appreciate the numerous evenings in store for them”, underlined the president of the Gatineau Olympiques, Mr. Alain Sear.
During this special season, the Olympiques will retire three former players jerseys: Maxime Talbot (#25), Martin Gélinas (#20), Colin White (#24), and honor two coaches: Claude Julien and Alain Vigneault. Special evenings are planned to highlight the team’s many President Cup Championships and the Memorial Cup.
The festivities will officially begin with the second edition of the ‘’Wine and Cheese event’’ on August 30th at the Château Cartier Hotel. On this occasion, the 2012-2013 edition of the Olympiques will be presented. Former player and player to be honored, Maxime Talbot, has confirmed his presence. Tickets to this event will be available as of mid-June at the cost of 75.00$ per person.
Training camp for the Gatineau Olympiques will begin August 14th at the C.I.H.Academy (Canadian and International Hockey Academy) in Rockland, Ontario. Training camp will continue in Gatineau the following week.
Two pre-season games are scheduled against the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League: September 7th in Smiths Falls and the following day, September 8th in Rockland. The tickets for the game held in Rockland will be on sale at the beginning of the training camp. The Ottawa 67’s are responsible for the sale of the tickets for the game to be held in Smiths Falls.
