Islanders & PEI Crime Stoppers Anti-Bullying program returns
The Charlottetown Islanders players and staff, along with P.E.I. Crime Stoppers, started a series of school visits today to speak on Anti-Bullying. Over the next several week’s Islanders players and staff will visit 15 English and French Language Schools across Prince Edward Island to discuss the effects of bullying on today’s students and what can be done to eliminate it.
“There is no place for bullying in our community”, says Islanders captain Keiran Gallant. “There are lots of tragic stories that come from bullying and most stories remain untold. It is great that we can go out and deliver our message throughout the community in hopes of putting a stop to bullying”.
“The Charlottetown Islanders are excited about being a part of this initiative. We recognize the devastating impact bullying can have on today’s youth. We are proud to be playing a part in raising awareness on the effects of bullying and why it must end”, says President of Business Operations Craig Foster. “Our players are looking forward to going out and sharing their message to students across Prince Edward Island”.
Crime Stoppers Coordinator Don Rodd adds, “We are hoping that by working with the students and schools we can raise awareness of the effects of bullying. We believe that by doing this all students will be more comfortable and confident in standing up for themselves, supporting others, and knowing where to turn for help if they are victims of bullying.”
