Charlottetown Islanders busy in the community during the month of September
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s preseason is now underway and the regular season is just around the corner. For the Charlottetown Islanders, September promises to be a busy month for the team on and off the ice as they give back to the community around them.
President of Operations Craig Foster expresses the importance of being involved in the community for the Charlottetown Islanders.
“As an organization we want to connect with members of the community and show our appreciation for the support they give us throughout the season,” said Foster.
Things get started this Saturday, September 4th, at participating Wilson’s Gas Stations from 11am-2pm. Players will be on hand to meet and greet customers and give free popcorn and tickets vouchers to the children.

On September 16th, Red Rock Wrestling is at the Stratford Town Hall gymnasium and the Islanders will be in attendance signing autographs during the intermission.
The following day the Islanders take over Kent Street in downtown Charlottetown for their annual Street Hockey Jamboree. In addition to ball hockey, fans will have the chance to enjoy autographs and picture opportunities with Islanders players, a free BBQ, face painting, giveaways from Old Dutch, Papa John’s and Coca Cola. The event will be hosted by Laura Woodworth of the New Hot 105.5. Closing out the event will be the official introduction of the 2016/17 Charlottetown Islanders roster.
On September 20th and 21st, the Islanders will visit several Island schools to help serve breakfast as part of the school’s breakfast program.
The 2016-17 regular season officially gets underway on Friday, September 23rd with the Home Opener at the Eastlink Centre when the Islanders take on the Saint John Sea Dogs. Puck drops at 7pm.
“We really hope our fans take the opportunity to come out and meet our players at these events. It’s not only good for our players to be out meeting our fans, but it allows our fans to feel like they are part of our team”, concludes Foster.
