Isles wrap up road-trip in Rimouski
The Isles will wrap up their road-trip this afternoon in Rimouski, taking on the 3-2-1-0 Océanic.
Charlottetown will look to bounce back after back to back losses to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
The Océanic are looking to start a winning streak of their own coming off of a 4-2 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday.
Carter Bickle will start tonight for the Islanders. Bickle last started against Baie-Comeau and stopped 27 of 32 shots in the loss. He’s looking to get his first win since opening night.
Key to victory
They need to be better in the third period. So far on the road-trip, despite out-scoring their opponents in the first two periods 5-3, they’ve been outscored 11-4 in the final frame. Not only that, they came out of the gate behind in the third, with both Baie-Comeau and Chicoutimi scoring within the first four minutes of the period.
Players to watch
RIM – P.E.I. native, Luke Coughlan has three assists in five games since returning from the Florida Panthers rookie camp. The left-handed defenseman was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round, 191st overall in last year’s NHL entry draft. This is Coughlans first game against his hometown team this season.
Forward Maxime Coursol is tied for third overall in the QMJHL in scoring with ten points in seven games. The 12th overall pick in the 2021 Q draft seems to be breaking out as he’s coming off of a 24 point campaign last season.
CHA – Ross Campbell is still looking to get his first goal of the season despite his strong play. He’s been a two-way force helping the Isles penalty kill. Although the Souris native does have four assists on the year, he scored all four of them in the first two games. Campbell will be hungry for his first goal of the season and there’s no better time than now.
Since being called up from Edmundston of the MHL, Alexis Jacques has a goal and an assist in three games. Look for him to continue making an impact from the back-end as he tries to prove that he belongs to stay with the club. Jacques has played 39 games for the Victoriaville Tigres since 2021-22 but has shined in Junior-A this season scoring seven points in six games for the Blizzard.
