Follow Along as the Islanders Hit the Road for Three-in-Three in Quebec
The Charlottetown Islanders embark on a challenging 3-game road trip this weekend in Quebec, taking on the Shawinigan Cataractes, Drummondville Voltigeurs, and Victoriaville Tigres in a packed schedule.
With 3 games in 3 days, the Isles will need to dig deep and bring their best effort to secure crucial points.
The action begins tonight in Shawinigan at 8 PM. The Islanders head into the game after splitting two well-played matchups with Saint John last weekend.
On Friday, the Isles lit the lamp in a dominant win over a tough Sea Dogs team while Saturday was a different story. As Saint John’s Charles-Edward Gravel delivered a shutout to hold off Charlottetown’s attack.
Donald Hickey and Nicolas Ruccia have been stellar between the pipes for the Isles, providing the backbone of recent success. Up front, Charlottetown will look to Egor Goriunov, Matt Butler, and Will Shields to continue their strong offensive play.
FOLLOW ALONG! As the Islanders follow up tonight’s game with a trip to Drummondville on Saturday at 5 PM and finish the weekend in Victoriaville on Sunday at 5 PM.
FRIDAY VS. SHAWINIGAN (Final Score: 5-2 Islanders)
Shawinigan enters tonight’s game riding a 2-game winning streak after defeating Halifax 4-0 and Cape Breton 5-2, both on the road. The Cataractes are full of confidence and will be a tough test for the Isles in the weekend opener.
Felix Lacerte leads the Cataractes with 15 goals on the season and the Isles will need to be on the top of their game to keep his efforts out of the net tonight.
Islanders’ Logan Biser has been practicing with the team and his return to the lineup is imminent with a chance of him playing this weekend away in Quebec. Biser is incredibly eager to get back on the ice to join the boys for the second half of the season.
From Guelph, ON, Biser spent last season with the ZSC Lions U-17 in Switzerland where he netted 9 goals and racked up 6 assists in his 36 games there. Fans can be excited for the prospect of adding more firepower to the Islanders forward core!
SATURDAY VS. DRUMMONDVILLE (Final Score: 4-2 Voltigeurs)
The Charlottetown Islanders are set to face a formidable test this evening as they take on the league-leading Drummondville Voltigeurs at 5 p.m. at the Centre Marcel Dionne.
Coming off a commanding victory against Shawinigan, the Isles are riding momentum and stellar goaltending. Last night was the debut of Logan Biser, while Captain Marcus Kearsey remains sidelined.
Egor Goriunov and Matt Butler will aim to continue their red-hot form in the Islanders top-line.
The Voltigeurs, sitting atop the QMJHL standings with 42 points, are a powerhouse, fueled by Sam Oliver’s 21 goals this season.
Having won 8 of their last 10 games, Drummondville will present a tough challenge, but the Isles, winners of 6 of their last 10, are eager to rise to the occasion and prove their mettle.
SUNDAY VS. VICTORIAVILLE
The Charlottetown Islanders wrap up a grueling three-in-three weekend tonight in Victoriaville, looking to replicate the energy and determination they’ve shown in the first two games.
Friday night saw the Isles dominate Shawinigan, propelled by stellar goaltending from Donald Hickey and standout performances from stars like Egor Goriunov and Matt Butler. On Saturday, despite a resilient effort that erased an early 2-0 deficit, Charlottetown fell 4-2 in a closely contested game against the league’s best team, the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
Goriunov, who has been on fire with 13 points in his last 6 games, will be a key player to watch as he faces his former team. The former Tigres fan favorite earned 1st star honors when the Isles defeated Victoriaville 4-2 earlier this season.
Expect a warm reception for Egor from the Victoriaville faithful and a spirited battle on the ice as the Tigres aim to snap their five-game losing streak against a fatigued Islanders squad.
With Donald Hickey likely back in net, the Isles will look to finish their Quebec road trip on a high note. Don’t miss what promises to be a thrilling matchup tonight in the Colisee Desjardins!
