Islanders and Hulton agree to 4-year extension
The Charlottetown Islanders are excited to announce that Head Coach and General Manager Jim Hulton has agreed to a four-year contract extension, through the conclusion of the 21-22 season. His current contract was set to expire at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Under Hulton, the Islanders have compiled a record of 132 wins and 94 losses in 226 games -including four playoff series wins, three consecutive playoff appearances and the team’s first and only appearance ever in the third round of the playoffs.
Hulton was named the Islanders’ Head Coach on June 29, 2015 and added General Manager to his title April 22, 2016.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue in this role and have the confidence the Islanders have shown by offering this extension,” noted Hulton. “I’m very pleased with the staff we have assembled. On the ice, our team has done a tremendous job of working with and developing players individually and collectively as a team. Our scouting staff has done a solid job of identifying players through the QMJHL Draft via trades and through free agency, who have and will become key pieces of our team. I’m very excited about what lies ahead for the Islanders organization.”
“We’re extremely pleased to extend Jim’s contract in recognition of the steady progress the organization has made under his leadership,” noted President of Operations Craig Foster. “This extension adds stability to our organization, and current players and prospects can have continued confidence in the Hockey Operations department moving forward. Jim has done a great deal to improve the operations of the Charlottetown Islanders, and as an organization we felt this was the right time to show our appreciation for his hard work.”
The Islanders open the 2018 Playoffs against the Quebec Remparts starting this Saturday in Quebec.
