Cataractes thump Oceanic at home
SHAWINIGAN, Que. – Kicking off the second week of March on Wednesday evening, the Cataractes played host to the Rimouski Oceanic at Centre Gervais Auto.
Rimouski got the games first goal on the scoreboard eight minutes into the contest as Alexandre Grise found the net. Hunter Moreau and Charle-Eduoard D’Astous got the helpers with the visiting side taking a 1-0 lead.
However, the Cataractes quickly responded 50 seconds later and never looked back. Alexis D’Aoust scored his team leading 43rd marker of the season tying the game at 1-1. Assists went to Anthony Beauvillier and Samuel Girard.
Beauvillier scored a goal of his own at the 10:13 mark to make it 2-1. Four minutes later, Gabriel Gagne pushed the home sides lead to 3-1.
Danny Moynihan rounded out the first period scoring with a goal in the final second of the frame. His 36th was assisted by Timashov and Fitzgerald.
In the second period Brandon Gignac reached the 20 goal mark on the year and gave the Cataractes a solid cushion, 5-1.
Beauvillier and Moynihan each potted their second goals of the evening to top off the scoring, before the end of the middle period.
Girard and Timashov finished with a pair of assists each in the contest.
