LaSalle Sabres Enjoy Old Dutch Hockey Day with Windsor Spitfires
A big thanks from the Windsor Spitfires goes out to Old Dutch Foods for giving a local minor hockey team the chance to meet and spend a day with their heroes.
Winners of the ‘Old Dutch CHL Hockey Day’ contest for the 2010/2011 hockey season, the LaSalle Sabres 98s took part in a ‘skills and drills’ instructional session at the WFCU Centre with members of the team on February 7th.
“The practice we hosted won’t soon be forgotten here,” said Spitfires head coach Bob Jones. “Seeing the looks of the LaSalle Sabres 98s team as they watched their heroes skate alongside them was something to see. This is what working with grassroots programs such as the “CHL Hockey Day Contest” is all about. On behalf of the Windsor Spitfires coaching staff and players, we’d like to thank Old Dutch, the CHL and the LaSalle Sabres for the opportunity to take part in this program.”
The Sabres 98s also enjoyed a dressing room tour and a VIP dinner with the Spitfires, received a medal, jerseys and merchandise compliments of Old Dutch.
“The event with the LaSalle Sabres and Windsor Spitfires was a huge success. Old Dutch Foods would like to thank the Windsor Spitfires, LPI Group and the CHL for their co-operation,” said Brian Cheys, Regional Sales Manager Northwestern Ontario, Old Dutch Foods. “This event will have a lasting effect on each player from the Sabres, some of whom we hope become future NHL’ers. Old Dutch was honoured to be part of this most enjoyable day!”
The Sabres 98s will be VIP guests this Wednesday, February 16th as the Spitfires take on the Kitchener Rangers.
“The entire LaSalle Sabres 98s family would like to Old Dutch, the CHL, the coaches and the players of the Windsor Spitfires for hosting our team of 12-year-olds and leaving a lasting impression with them. Thank you for this opportunity and for showing your support of the minor hockey league system in our area,” said Kathy Kaufman, the parent who entered the 98s in the contest.
“All of the boys loved the time on the ice, and were in awe of the tour of the dressing room and workout area. Thank you also for providing us with tickets to attend the upcoming game vs the Rangers – we will be there in full force to cheer the Spits on to victory. Dreams do come true!”
The Spitfires thank Old Dutch and the CHL for selecting Windsor as the destination for this contest, appreciate Old Dutch’s continued support and look forward to working with the company and the CHL in the future.
