Hitmen’s Cody Sylvester Named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Cody Sylvester of the Calgary Hitmen is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 10 after recording 12 points in four games including five goals and seven assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-8.
A two-time WHL Player of the Week this season, Sylvester led the Hitmen to four straight wins last week highlighted by his performance last Tuesday night when he set a new Hitmen record for points in a single game with seven notching a goal and six assists as first star of a 9-5 win over the Saskatoon Blades. He also picked up a goal and an assist Wednesday in a 4-3 win over the Prince Albert Raiders, followed by a two-goal performance on Saturday in a 9-0 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. His week wrapped up Sunday scoring a goal in a 4-3 win over the Red Deer Rebels.
Sylvester, a 20-year-old from Kelowna, BC, is playing in his fifth WHL season with the Hitmen. Currently 11th in WHL scoring, Sylvester has 84 points including 38 goals and 46 assists in 66 games this season.
Also considered for the award this week was Mark Scheifele of the Barrie Colts who scored six goals with three assists for nine points in three games, and Jean-Sebastien Dea of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies who scored five goals with two assists for seven points in three games.
