Five CHL Players Named to U.S Under-18 Select Team
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that five CHL players will compete for Team USA at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament August 5-10, 2013, in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia.
The 21-player roster announcement was made by USA Hockey on Wednesday night following the completion of the Boys’ Select 17 Player Development Camp which took place from June 28-July 3 at the Northtown Center at Amherst in Williamsville, N.Y.
Representing the CHL are goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers who is joined by defenceman Aaron Haydon of the Niagara IceDogs, and Portland Winterhawks’ forwards Paul Bittner, Keegan Iverson, and Dominic Turgeon.
Nedeljkovic, Haydon, Iverson, and Turgeon are all eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft, while Bittner who was born in November 1996, is eligible in 2015.
The 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament will include teams from Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States. Team USA has finished in the top three of the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 10 times since the tournament began in 1991, including a first-place finish in 2003.
