Crosby Named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Sidney Crosby of the Rimouski Oceanic is the CHL player of the week for the week ending Sunday September 26 after scoring two goals eight assists in three games.
Crosby, a 17-year-old native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia started the week with a goal and an assist in a 9-2 loss against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on September 21. He followed up with a pair of assists in a 3-1 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs on September 24 and tied his career high for points in a night when he scored a goal and five assists in a 10-2 win over the Victoriaville Tigres on September 26.
Crosby, who won the CHL Player of the Year Award as a rookie last season, leads the QMJHL scoring race with four goals and 18 points in his first five games. Crosby was also named CHL player of the week for the first week of last season.
