Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Michael Hutchinson of the Barrie Colts is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 14. Hutchinson posted a shutout win along with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .972 in two games.

Hutchinson played in back-to-back games for the Colts beginning Thursday night at home to one of the OHL’s top teams the Brampton Battalion. He steered aside all 36 shots he faced and was the first star of the game with his third shutout of the season in the 4-0 win. The following night Friday, Hutchinson made 33 saves as the Colts beat the Kingston Frontenacs 7-2. In 20 games played this season Hutchinson has a goals-against-average of 2.79 and a save percentage of .920.

Hutchinson, an 18-year-old from Barrie, ON is in his third season playing for his hometown Colts team. He was selected in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins in the third round, number 77 overall.

Nicholas Champion of the QMJHL’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan was also considered for the award winning two games on the road and posting a 2.28 goals-against-average and a .931 save percentage. Darcy Kuemper of the Red Deer Rebels represents the WHL’s nominee enjoying a 2-0-0-0 week with a shutout win. The 18-year-old rookie from Saskatoon, SK allowed just one goal on 50 shots in two games.
