CHL Launches 2015-16 Movember Campaign
Thursday October 29, 2015
For the fifth straight season the Canadian Hockey League is launching a league-wide initiative with member clubs, players, and officials participating in Movember to help change the face of men’s health.
During the month of November, the Movember campaign creates positive change for men’s health by raising awareness and educating men about some of the biggest health issues they face including prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, and physical inactivity.
CHL member clubs, players, and officials will be registered under the CHL platform on ca.movember.com to raise proceeds by growing and grooming their moustache and encouraging donations through family, friends, fans, and other partners through a variety of unique in-arena and online promotions.
Last season 36 teams consisting of 352 registered members raised over $89,000 and ranked 16th among all registered Canadian networks contributing to the over $24 million raised by all participants across Canada and the $102 million raised worldwide.
Leading the way across the CHL network in 2014 was the “MOfficials” consisting of Western Hockey League officials who earned top dollars for the fourth straight season raising over $51,000. The QMJHL’s Cape Breton Screaming Eagles led all CHL clubs in fundraising with over $3,800 raised, followed closely by the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings with over $3,700 raised. The Saint John Sea Dogs and Calgary Hitmen also raised over $3,000 each.
The Movember Foundation is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives. In four years, the CHL has helped contribute over $549,000 for this worthy cause.
