The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Matthew Pistilli of the Shawinigan Cataractes is the Boston Pizza CHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 19 after scoring six goals and four assists for ten points in three games finishing with a plus-4 plus-minus rating.

Pistilli led the Cataractes to three wins this week including a 7-0 victory Tuesday night over the Drummondville Voltigeurs where he recorded two goals and one assist and was named the first star of the game. Pistilli would repeat as the first star of the game Friday night when he scored his fourth career QMJHL hat-trick and added two assists in an 8-3 win over the Rimouski Oceanic. Pistilli would finish his week Saturday with a goal and an assist in a 7-5 win over the Val d’Or Foreurs.

Pistilli, a 20-year-old from Montreal, QC is in his fifth QMJHL season and is currently tied for the league lead in goals scored with 12 while the entire Cataractes team leads all QMJHL teams in goals for with 78. Pistilli played in 63 games last season for the Gatineau Olympiques and scored 37 goals and 56 assists for 93 points.

The WHL nominee was Jay Fehr of the Brandon Wheat Kings who had two four-point nights this week accumulating five goals and four assists for nine points in three games leading the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup hosts to a 2-0-1-0 record. In the OHL, rookie goaltender Brandon Foote of the Brampton Battalion was the nominee for the award after going 4-0-0-0 and posting two shutouts.
