Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Michaël Bournival of the Shawinigan Cataractes is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 7. In three games Bournival recorded eight points including two goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.

Bournival led the Cataractes to three wins this week over the Lewiston MAINEiacs and was named first star in two of the contests highlighted by his top performance Saturday recording a career-high four assists as first star of a 5-3 win. Earlier in the week he scored a goal in a 3-2 win after beginning his week on Tuesday night scoring a goal and two assists in the 6-1 win as first star of the game.

Bournival, a 17-year-old from Shawinigan-Sud, QC, is playing in his second QMJHL season with the Cataractes. Eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Bournival competed in the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and has already set career-highs this season in all offensive categories with 20 goals and 30 assists for 50 points in 45 games.

Considered for the award this week from the OHL was defenceman Michael Quesnele of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds who scored two goals and four assists for six points in three games. In the WHL, Team Canada World Junior MVP Jordan Eberle of the Regina Pats had four goals and three assists for seven points in four games played.
