Canada scores comeback win vs Slovakia
Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team scored three goals in the final four minutes to comeback and beat Slovakia 3-2 in the final round-robin game of the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
Canada will now face the Czech Republic in Semi-Final action on Friday.
Ryan Kujawinski (Kingston Frontenacs) put Canada on the board at 16:15 of the third period with his first goal of the tournament.
Josh Morrissey (Prince Albert Raiders) tied the score for Canada at 17:07 and finished the contest with three points.
Captain Sam Reinhart (Kootenay Ice) got the game-winner at 19:07 with his second point of the game.
Eric Comrie (Tri-City Americans) earned the win in goal with 21 saves.
The other Semi-Final contest features Sweden vs. Finland, while other Friday matchups include Russia vs. Switzerland in the fifth place game, and the United States vs. Slovakia playing for seventh place.
Canada has won this event the last four years and 16 times overall since 1991.
