Canada finishes 2-1 at NJT Camp
Canada’s National Junior Team wrapped up exhibition play at Summer Development Camp in Lake Placid, NY, with a 5-1 loss to the United States.
Canada finished the three game series with a 2-1 record with wins against Finland on Wednesday, and Sweden on Thursday.
Trailing 5-0 in the third period, Sam Reinhart (Kootenay Ice) scored the lone goal for Canada.
Scoring for the Americans included Stefan Matteau (Rimouski Oceanic), while Connor Carrick (Plymouth Whalers), and Adam Erne (Quebec Remparts) each recorded assists in the contest.
Jake Paterson (Saginaw Spirit) stopped 20 shots for Canada.
A total of 35 CHL players took part in the Summer Development Camp for Canada, while seven CHL players were named to the final National Junior Evaluation Camp roster for the United States.
All players are eligible for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship which takes place this December in Sweden.
Following the Canada/United States contest in Lake Placid, Finland edged Sweden by a 3-2 score in a shootout. Oscar Dansk (Erie Otters) made 23 saves in between the pipes for Sweden.
