Blades Commemorative Jerseys Available in Auction
Saskatoon, SK – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Saskatoon Blades today announced that the specially designed commemorative jerseys worn by the Blades in the opening game of the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup against the London Knights are available for online auction until Monday May 27 at 9:00 pm Eastern at http://auction.chl.ca/.
The opening game jerseys were designed by the Blades in conjunction with the CHL to pay tribute to the military with the words “air force,” “army” and “navy” accompanied by a red maple leaf as the main logo. The words “courage” and “loyalty” are on the sleeves to recognize two significant characteristics that a person enlisted in the armed forces exemplifies.
Proceeds from the auction will go towards the Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund. Poppy funds are spent to support veterans and their families, buy hospital equipment, support cadet groups, and provide student bursaries. The MasterCard Memorial Cup Theme Jersey Program was created in 2008 and have cumulatively generated over $100,000 for the fund.
