Tuesday October 20, 2015
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Zach Bratina of the North Bay Battalion is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 18 after scoring eight goals and one assist for nine points in four games along with a plus-minus rating of plus-7.
Bratina recorded back-to-back hat-tricks and helped the Battalion win three of four games played last week improving their record to 5-4-0-0. On Thanksgiving Monday afternoon he netted his first career hat-trick including the game-winner as first star of a 5-3 victory over the Mississauga Steelheads. He picked up another hat-trick on Thursday night and added one assist for a career-high four points with first star honours in a 5-1 win over the defending champion Oshawa Generals. His week wrapped up with a goal on Friday night despite a 3-1 loss to the Sudbury Wolves, and a goal on Sunday earning second star in a 4-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs.
Bratina, a 19-year-old from Lindsay, ON, is playing in his fourth career OHL season and third with the Battalion. He currently ranks tied for ninth in OHL scoring with 13 points in nine games but his 11 goals are good for second best in the league and just one shy of his career-best.
