CHL Playoff Notebook: May 3, 2019

Two games were on the Canadian Hockey League playoff schedule Friday, including the Ed Chynoweth Cup Final opener in the WHL:

Western Hockey League

A four-point effort by defenceman Bowen Byram, Central Scouting’s second-ranked North American skater ahead of the 2019 NHL Draft, powered the Vancouver Giants to a 5-4 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders in Game 1. The series continues Saturday in Prince Albert.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Halifax Mooseheads centre Benoit-Olivier Groulx played the hero in double overtime versus the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, notching his third point of the night to lift his club to a 5-4 victory that evened the series through two games. The Mooseheads will now look to grab the series lead Monday on home ice.

Ontario Hockey League

The J. Ross Robertson Cup Final resumes Saturday when the Ottawa 67’s will look to push their series edge to 2-0 over the Guelph Storm after coming away with a 7-2 victory on home ice Thursday.
