The Canadian Hockey League’s Player of the Week for the week for the weekrending February 24 is forward Maxime Bouchard of the DrummondvillerVoltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.rr
Bouchard had 11 points in three games this past week to beat out the otherrleague nominees to win the weekly CHL recognition. Bouchard is the thirdrconsecutive QMJHL winner and he becomes the eighth Quebec player to win theraward in the 18 weeks the CHL Player of the Week has been awarded.rr
Bouchard was also the QMJHL Offensive Player of the Week while goaltenderrMaxime Daigneault of the Val-d’Or Foreurs was the QMJHL Defensive Player ofrthe Week. Tyler Beechey of the Calgary Hitmen was the Husky Western HockeyrLeague Player of the Week while goalies Jason Bacashihua of the PlymouthrWhalers and Adam Munro of the Erie Otters were the co-winners of the OntariorHockey League Players of the Week.rr

Beechey took the WHL award by scoring four goals and adding five assists forrnine points in four games this past week. Beechey’s big week included arsix-point night on Feb. 24 when he scored three goals and assisted on threerothers in Calgary’s 8-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos.rr
Beechey’s week started on Feb. 20 when he had one assist in a 4-1 victoryrover the Red Deer Rebels in Red Deer. On Feb. 22 he scored a goal as therHitmen defeated the Raiders 5-1 in Prince Albert.rr
On Feb. 23 Beechey had one assist in a 4-2 loss to the Saskatoon Blades inrSaskatoon before his six-point effort in his final game of the week earnedrhim the Husky WHL Player of the Week honours.rr
Beechey, a 20-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta, is a free agent.rr

At Kitchener, Scott Dickie made 31 saves to pick up the shutout as therRangers defeated the Sting before 4,905 fans. Mike Richards scored a pair ofrgoals for the winners, including the clincher into an empty net, while RyanrRamsay had the other Kitchener goal. Robert Gherson was brilliant in goalrfor the Sting, making 40 saves.rr

Jason Bacashihua of the Plymouth Whalers and Adam Munro of the Erie Ottersrare the co-winners this week as both players posted nearly identical recordsrduring the week ending Feb. 24. Both goalies were 2-0-0 with 0.50 goalsragainst averages and remarkably both posted save percentages of .982.rr
Bacashihua made 31 saves for his league-leading fifth shutout of the seasonrFeb. 22 during a 3-0 win over the Owen Sound Attack. The next night he mader23 saves as the Whalers defeated the Ottawa 67’s 6-1.rr
Bacashihua is a first round draft pick of the Dallas Stars and he improvedrhis season marks to 2.37 (GAA) and .918 (save percentage) with his big week.rr
Munro picked up his second shutout of the season on Feb. 23, making 22 savesrin a 5-0 win over the London Knights. The following night he stopped 33rshots as the Otters defeated the Guelph Storm 4-1.rr
Munro is a first round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks and he improvedrhis season stats to 3.36 (GAA) and .897 (save percentage) after hisroutstanding weekly performance.rr

On Monday night in the QMJHL, Montreal stopped Drummondville 7-3 beforer7,521 fans at the Molson Centre while Cape Breton blanked Quebec 4-0.rr
At Montreal, Fabien Laniel scored two goals and one assist to lead therRocket to the win before the big hometown crowd. Marc Villeneuve added arpair of goals to the Montreal attack, while Pascal Leclaire made 38 saves inrgoal for the winners. Frederic Faucher had one goal and one assist for therVoltigeurs, while CHL Player of the Week Maxime Bouchard had two assists.rr

He opened his week on Feb.r19 with a two goal, two assist performance in a 5-4 win over the MonctonrWildcats, while also scoring the game-winning goal. On Feb. 22, he had tworgoals and one assist in a 7-2 win over the Quebec Remparts and on Feb. 24,rhe had four assists in an 8-3 win over the Hull Olympiques.rr
The Carignan, Quebec native wound up with two power play goals and was plusrfive for the week as well, leaving him with 77 points in 58 games thisrseason.rr
Daigneault appeared in three games this past week, picking up a win and tworties while posting a goals against average of 0.95 and a save percentage ofr.962. On Feb. 19 against Montreal, Daigneault made 30 saves in a 1-1 tie. OnrFeb. 21, he stopped 21 shots in a 2-2 tie against the Sherbrooke Castors. OnrFeb. 23, he posted his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over therHalifax Mooseheads, making 25 saves en route.rr
Daigneault wound up stopping 76 of the 79 shots he faced last week, leavingrhim with a GAA of 3.44 for the season, along with a save percentage of .875.rr
