rT-BIRDS CLINCH U.S. DIVISION
r
r
rThe Seattle Thunderbirds clinched their second U.S. division title in three seasons with a 2-0 win over Everett on Saturday night.
r
rThe win was the Thunderbirds’ 40th of the season and lifted them to 84 points. While both the Winter Hawks and Silvertips could still tie Seattle at 84 points providing they both win all their remaining games and Seattle loses all their remaining games, the T-Birds would have more wins, giving them the tiebreaker.
r
rThe Thunderbirds, who missed the playoff last season, won the U.S. division in 2002-03 but were beaten 4-1 by Kelowna in the 2003 Western conference final.
r
rSaturday’s win also marked netminder Bryan Bridges‘ league-leading 11th shutout of the season, moving him into second place for the most shutouts by a goaltender in a single season.
r
rKelly Guard holds the current WHL record with 13, which he posted last season with Kelowna.
