WHL FRIDAY NIGHT RECAP – The Lethbridge Hurricanes rallied for two third-period goals to salvage a 2-2 tie with the visiting Kamloops Blazers in one of eight Western Hockey League contests Friday night.

rJonathan Filewich and Kris Versteeg scored for Lethbridge while Tyler Redenbach picked up an assist for his first point as a Hurricane. The draw improves the âCanes to 25-10-9-1 and keeps them first in the Central division.

rReid Jorgensen and Aaron Richards scored for the Blazers, who, with the tie, are unbeaten in five straight contests. The draw improves the Blazers to 17-21-3-2 but they remain fifth in the B.C. division.

rElsewhere last night, Kenndal McArdle’s second goal with less than two minutes remaining in the third period lifted the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 4-4 draw versus the visiting Portland Winter Hawks.

rStuart Kerr and Troy Brouwer also tallied for the Warriors. The tie improves the Warriors to 6-32-6-1 but they remain fifth in the East division.

rCody McLeod continued his torrid pace, netting a hat trick for the Hawks, while Dan DaSilva also netted in the draw. The tie leaves the Hawks at 18-20-4-4 and third in the U.S. division.

rMatt Hansen scored the winner and set up another to lead the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds to a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Americans last night.

rZack Fitzgerald and Derek Couture also tallied for the T-birds while Bryan Bridges made 24 saves for the win. The victory improves the Thunderbirds to 30-11-0-1 and keeps the first in the U.S. division.

rAndy Thompson scored the lone goal for the Americans in the loss. With the defeat, their fourth straight, the Ams slip to 15-19-4-2 and remain tied with Spokane for fourth in the U.S. division.

rIn Prince Albert last night, Brett Novak netted the winner to lift the Raiders to a 2-1 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings.

rAdam Lukacovic also tallied for the Raiders while Rejean Beauchemin stopped 26 shots for the win. The victory improves the Raiders to 17-23-4-1 and keeps them third in the East division.

rAdam Ward turned aside 27 shots for the Pats in the loss. The defeat sees the Pats slip to 11-27-2-4 and keeps them fourth in the East division.

rIn other action Friday night, Cam Cunning scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Vancouver Giants to a 4-2 win over the visiting Everett Silvertips.

rJason Reese, Gilbert Brule and Triston Grant also scored for the Giants in the victory. The win improves Vancouver to 24-17-1-2 and keeps them firmly in third spot in the B.C. division.

rTorrie Wheat and Michael Wuchterl tallied for the Silvertips in the loss. With the defeat, Everett falls to 20-15-6-2 but remains second in the U.S. division.
