WHL WEDNESDAY NIGHT RECAP – Tim Konsorada scored twice and added three assists to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 5-3 win over the visiting Saskatoon Blades in one of six Western Hockey League contests last night.

rEric Fehr netted a goal and an assist to move into sole possession of the league scoring lead while Czech rookie Jakub Sindel tallied his first WHL goal for the Wheat Kings in the win. The victory improves Brandon to 19-12-5-1 and keeps them comfortably in second spot in the East division.

rRyan Keller, Tyler Boldt and Bjorn Svensson scored for the Blades in a losing cause. The loss leaves Saskatoon at 22-9-5-4 but they remain nine points ahead of Brandon for first in the division.

rElsewhere last night, Tyler Spurgeon scored a goal and chipped in two assists to lead the Kelowna Rockets to a 5-0 blanking of the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.

rBlake Comeau netted a goal and an assist for the Rockets while rookie netminder Kristofer Westblom made 14 saves for his third shutout of the season. The victory improves the Rockets to 23-9-9-1 and keeps them first in the B.C. division and first overall.

rJosh Lepp stopped 25 shots in a losing cause as the Warriors drop their sixth straight contest. The loss leaves the Warriors at 6-30-5-1 and fifth in the East division.

rBrett Robertson scored two power play goals – including the winner – to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 4-1 win over the visiting Red Deer Rebels last night.

rStefan Meyer and Roman Psurny also tallied for the Tigers while Matt Keetley made 27 saves in the win. The victory improves the Tigers to 23-12-3-1 and moves them to within five points of Lethbridge for first in the Central division.

rTy Morris scored the lone goal for the Rebels – his 10th goal in 13 games since being traded to Red Deer – in a losing cause. The loss drops the Rebels to 18-13-4-4 and keeps them third in the Central division,

rAki Seitsonen scored the winner and added an assist to lift the visiting Prince Albert Raiders to a 4-2 win over the Regina Pats Wednesday night.

rRick Kozak netted his sixth goal in 11 games as a Raider while Alex Archibald stopped nine of only 11 shots he faced in the win. With the victory, the Raiders improve to 15-21-4-1 and sit comfortably in fifth in the East division.

rKyle Deck and Kyle Ross scored for the Pats in the loss. With the defeat, the struggling Pats fall to 10-24-2-4 and remain fourth in the East division.

rIn Washington, Nate Thompson netted a hat trick to lead the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds to a 6-3 win over the Spokane Chiefs.

rLadislav Scurko, Denis Tolpeko and Ryan Gibbons all tallied a goal and an assist for the T-birds in the win. The victory sees the Thunderbirds improve to 26-10-0-1 and increase their lead atop the U.S. division to seven points.

rJeff Lynch scored a pair of goals for Spokane in the loss while Jevon Desautels also tallied for the Chiefs. The loss leaves the Chiefs at 13-19-7-1 and fifth in the U.S. division.

rIn other action last night, Gilbert Brule and Mitch Bartley each tallied two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Vancouver Giants to a 6-3 win over the Prince George Cougars.

rConlan Seder scored a goal and an assist for the Giants while Adam Courchaine set up three goals in the win. With the victory, the Giants improve to 22-15-1-2 and move 11 points up on the Cougars for third in the B.C. division.

rDustin Byfuglien netted twice for the Cougars while Brett Parker also tallied in the loss. With the defeat, the Cougars slip to 16-20-3-1 and remain fourth in the B.C. division.
