WHEAT KINGS ACQUIRE GREEN FROM T-BIRDS

Brandon, MB. – Brandon Wheat Kings general manager / head coach Kelly McCrimmon has announced the acquisition of 18-year old defenceman Taylor Green from the Seattle Thunderbirds.

In exchange for the 6’7” 227 lb Port Coquitlam, B.C. product, the TBirds receive a conditional fifth round draft choice in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

A second round selection (26th overall) of Seattle in the 2010 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, Green scored two goals and 7 points in 65 games for the Thunderbirds last season. As well, he accumulated 53 minutes in penalties.

In 69 career WHL games, Green has three goals and 8 points.

Thursday night’s acquisition of Green gives the Wheat Kings seven veteran blueliners entering this month’s Training Camp.

Wheat Kings Camp opens up on Tuesday, August 27th with Rookie registration. Main Camp gets underway two weeks from Friday – August 30th at Westman Communications Group Place.

Kent, August 15, 2013 – Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has traded defenseman Taylor Green to the Brandon Wheat Kings for a conditional fifth round selection in the 2014 Bantam Draft.

Green had 7 points on 2 goals and 5 assists with 53 penalty minutes in 65 games last season for the T-Birds. In 69 games over three seasons with the T-Birds he had 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points with 53 penalty minutes. Green was the T-Birds second round selection, 26th overall, in the 2010 Bantam Draft.

The T-Birds kick off the 2013-14 Western Hockey League regular season with the Home Opener against the 2013 League Champion Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, September 21, at 7:05 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.
