WINTERHAWKS TAME TIGERS – Chase De Leo scored and chipped in two assists to lead the visiting Portland Winterhawks to a 5-3 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday night.
Nicolas Petan and Brendan Leipsic each added a goal and an assist for the Hawks, who win their sixth straight game. Blake Penner had a goal and an assist for Medicine Hat, which has dropped three straight contests.

Edgars Kulda broke a 1-1 tie with his third marker of the season, 3:50 into the third period, as the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings skated to a 3-1 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday night. It’s the second win in a row for Edmonton.

Jayden Hart and Josh Morrissey scored third-period goals to lead the visiting Prince Albert Raiders to a 3-1 triumph over the Regina Pats on Wednesday. Rookie goaltender Nick McBride stopped 42 of 43 shots as the Raiders ended the Pats’ six-game win streak.
GIANTS 4, HITMEN 3 O/T
Tim Traber scored 2:04 into extra time as his Vancouver Giants downed the visiting Calgary Hitmen 4-3 on Wednesday. Rookie Alec Baer notched a goal and two assists for Vancouver, which earns it’s second win in a row while snapping Calgary’s four-game winning streak.
