WEDNESDAY’S WHL PLAYOFF ROUND-UP
OIL KINGS AND WINTERHAWKS MOVING ON – Oliver Bjorkstrand scored and set up two more to lead the visiting Portland Winterhawks to a 6-1 win over the Vancouver Giants in Game 4 of their Western Conference first-round series in WHL playoff action on Wednesday night.
With the Game 4 win, the Winterhawks complete a 4-0 series sweep of the Giants, and advance to the second round of the playoffs.
Brendan Leipsic and Keegan Iverson each chipped in a goal and an assist while Brendan Burke made 32 saves to post the win for the Winterhawks, who move on to the second round for a fifth straight season. Carter Popoff scored the only goal for the Giants, who see their 2013-14 season come to an end.

ROCKETS 5, AMERICANS 3
Tyson Baillie tallied a goal and a pair of assists while Madison Bowey and Justin Kirkland each netted a goal and an assist to lead the visiting Kelowna Rockets to a 5-3 win over the Tri-City Americans in Game 4 of their first-round Western Conference set.

ROYALS 6, CHIEFS 1
Austin Carroll scored twice and picked up an assist while Brandon Magee chipped in three helpers to lead the visiting Victoria Royals to a 6-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs in Game 3 of their Western Conference opening-round series on Wednesday. Patrik Polivka made 20 saves to post the win for Victoria, which opened with four goals in the first period.

Cody Corbett and Mitch Moroz each put up two goals and three assists to lead the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings to a 6-2 triumph over the Prince Albert Raiders in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first-round series. With the win, the Oil Kings sweep the Raiders four games to none and advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Jake DeBrusk scored the game-winner for the second straight night, this time at 5:05 of overtime, to lead the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference opening-round set. Graham Black scored twice for the Broncos while Curtis Valk netted both Tigers markers.
