2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 8
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 8 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
Currently riding an 11-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the CHL, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) moved into the top spot for the first time this season. Slipping down a place into second was the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), who are one of just three teams across the CHL with 16 victories on the year. Meanwhile, speaking of 16-win teams, the reigning QMJHL champion Drummondville Voltigeurs continue to round out the top three in third.
Among the notable changes to this week’s rankings include the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL making their CHL Top-10 debut of the 2024-25 season in ninth. Having gone undefeated over the last seven days, the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL), the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL, and the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL were among the six clubs who climbed up the rankings this week.
The next rankings will be released the week of November 25, following the ninth week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 8
1. London Knights (OHL): Holding the longest active winning streak in the CHL at 11 wins, one shy of the longest streak of the season, the London Knights (15-4-0-0) find themselves ranked No.1 for the first time this season. Over the last seven days, London managed to register a pair of wins against Sarnia (5-3) and Guelph (4-0) – placing them three points shy of No.7-ranked Kitchener for first place in the OHL’s overall standings. Over those two victories, the Knights enjoyed big performances from Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey (2G-15A in 15 GP), San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson (11G-19A in 17 GP), and Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan (13G-8A in 15 GP). Specifically, Barkey led all Knights scorers with six points (1G-5A) over the two wins. Dickinson collected five assists over that stretch, including his CHL-leading fourth point short-handed this season. Dickinson continues to rank among the OHL’s top-10 scorers and he leads all CHL defencemen with 11 goals and 30 points this season. Meanwhile, Easton Cowan tallied four points (3G-1A), including his OHL-leading fourth game-winning goal of the season. Cowan also extended his point streak to 51 consecutive regular-season games (a streak that continues to date back to November 25, 2023). Additionally, if that wasn’t enough, London saw the return of San Jose prospect Kasper Halttunen (0G-2A in 1 GP) on Saturday, as he registered a pair of assists in his 2024-25 debut in Knights’ 4-0 win over Guelph. In that same game, goaltender Austin Elliott (7-0-0-0 record, 2.43 GAA, .902 SV%, 1 SO in 7 GP) stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his first career OHL shutout (and the seventh of his career in the CHL). Elliott remains undefeated through seven career starts in the OHL. This week, Elliott and the Knights will look to continue their respective streaks when they face the No.7-ranked Rangers, the Attack, the Spirit, and the 67’s. London’s contest tonight against Kitchener is the CHL Game of the Week, and it will be available to watch for free on CHL TV when the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Games this week: @ Kitchener (Nov. 19), vs. Owen Sound (Nov. 22), @ Saginaw (Nov. 23), vs. Ottawa (Nov. 24)
2. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): After five consecutive weeks sitting atop the CHL Top-10 Rankings, the Moncton Wildcats (16-3-2-0) are down one place in second after splitting their games last week. The Wildcats dropped what was only their third regulation loss of the season, falling 6-2 against Saint John, before rebounding on Saturday thanks to a 6-2 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders. Moncton is 8-1-1-0 over their last 10, and their .810 point percentage is the second-best mark in the CHL. Additionally, their +46 goal differential continues to stand as the best of any club in the CHL. Over their two contests last week, 19-year-old forward Preston Lounsbury (10G-8A in 21 GP) tallied a goal and an assist in both games, as he has points in five of his last six outings (4G-4A over that stretch). Specifically, Lounsbury has registered three multi-point games over his previous four games. Meanwhile, 2025 NHL Draft prospect and Team CHL forward Caleb Desnoyers (13G-13A in 17 GP) scored his 13th goal of the season. Desnoyers is up to six goals and five assists in six games over November thus far. This week, the Wildcats will hit the road for contests against Québec, No.8-ranked Chicoutimi, and Baie-Comeau.
Games this week: @ Québec (Nov. 20), @ Chicoutimi (Nov. 21), @ Baie-Comeau (Nov. 23)
3. Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL): Having won two of three of their games over the last week, the Drummondville Voltigeurs (16-5-1-1) remain among the top three for a fourth week in a row. As one of only three teams in the CHL with 16 wins this season, the Voltigeurs achieved the latter by netting victories over Shawinigan (4-1) and No.8-ranked Chicoutimi (1-0 SO) over the last seven days. Their only loss over that stretch came against the Drakkar (4-2), one of the QMJHL’s hottest clubs with eight wins over their 10. 20-year-old forward Sam Oliver (18G-9A in 23 GP) carried on his strong play, tallying his 17th and 18th goals of the season. Oliver continues to rank second in goals in the QMJHL, trailing only Baie-Comeau’s Justin Poirier (20G). After losing three of his last four starts, Riley Mercer (11-4-1-0 record, 2.06 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO in 16 GP) showed why he remains one of the top goalies in the QMJHL. The 20-year-old from Bay Roberts, Nfld., made 26 saves before stopping all three Chicoutimi players he faced in the shootout to secure his second shutout of the season. Despite his recent up-and-down play in November, Mercer continues to lead the CHL with a .938 save percentage, while his 2.06 goals-against average ranks second among that group. This week, the Voltigeurs will look to avenge their loss against the Drakkar on Wednesday, before welcoming the No.9-ranked Huskies on Friday and traveling to Québec City for a date with the Remparts on Saturday.
Games this week: vs. Baie-Comeau (Nov. 20), vs. Rouyn-Noranda (Nov. 22), @ Québec (Nov. 23)
4. Everett Silvertips (WHL): Having the lone game on the calendar last week against Seattle (5-2), the Everett Silvertips (16-3-1-0) continue to sit among the top five teams in the CHL for a fourth week in a row. The Silvertips are one of only three clubs in the CHL to have won at least 16 games this season. Meanwhile, their +44 goal differential is the second-best mark in the CHL, trailing only the No.2-ranked Moncton Wildcats (+46). Everett is also averaging 4.95 goals per game, the best of any club in the CHL. In the only contest of the last week, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (19G-16A in 20 GP) recorded his second hat-trick of the 2024-25 season. Bear continues to rank second in the WHL in both goals (19) and points (35). He’ll also be one of 22 players set to suit for Team CHL as they take on the U.S. National U18 Team at the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota Canada from Nov. 26-27. Meanwhile, Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen (5G-18A in 19 GP) registered three assists in that 5-2 victory over the Thunderbirds, as the 18-year-old from Finland has begun to heat up. Miettinen is currently on a seven-game point streak (2G-10A) and he’s registered multi-point outings in six of his last 10 contests. This week, the Silvertips will be busy as they welcome the Hurricanes and Chiefs on Wednesday and Friday, before traveling to Kamloops and Kelowna for a pair of road games.
Games this week: vs. Lethbridge (Nov. 20), vs. Spokane (Nov. 22), @ Kamloops (Nov. 23), @ Kelowna (Nov. 24)
5. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): As the only team in the CHL Top-10 Rankings to go a perfect 3-0-0-0 last week, the Rimouski Océanic moved up two spots to slide back into the top five. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts scored a pair of victories over the Quebec Remparts (3-2 & 6-4) before closing on their week on Sunday with a 5-2 win over the Victoriaville Tigres at home. The Océanic have now won five in a row, along with seven of their last 10 (7-2-0-1). Leading the way for Rimouski over the last week was none other than Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford (10G-26A in 20 GP). The reigning 2023-24 QMJHL MVP led Rimouski with six points (2G-4A) during those three victories, placing him on a current six-game point streak (2G-9A over that stretch). His recent performances have also catapulted Cataford back into first place in the QMJHL scoring race with 36 points. Additionally, 20-year-old forward Jacob Mathieu (16G-10A in 19 GP) registered his third hat-trick of the season in the Océanic big 5-2 victory over Victoriaville. Mathieu has seven goals over his last five outings and now ranks tied for third in the QMJHL with 16 goals on the season. Yesterday, Rimouski also bolstered its lineup by announcing the acquisition of centerman Thomas Belzil from the BCHL. Belzil had been scoring at a point-per-game clip with the BCHL’s Powell River Kings this season, registering 17 points (5G-12A) in 17 games. The latter also matches Belzil’s point total from the previous year. This week, Belzil should be set to make his Océanic debut as the club looks to extend its winning streak when they face Team CHL forward Justin Carbonneau and the Armada on Wednesday before traveling southwest to face both Victoriaville and Sherbrooke on the road.
Games this week: vs. Blainville-Boisbriand (Nov. 20), @ Victoriaville (Nov. 22), @ Sherbrooke (Nov. 23)
6. Prince George Cougars (WHL): Having split a pair of games against the Kelowna Rockets last week, the Prince George Cougars (12-5-3-2) slipped down a couple of spots this week as they rank sixth in this week’s rankings. The Cougars are one of only two teams in the WHL to have scored more than 90 goals this season, as they are averaging 4.23 goals per game. Prince George has been particularly strong on home ice, collecting at least a point in 12 of 13 games (7-1-3-2) at the CN Centre this season. Their only loss in regulation at home this season came this Saturday at the hands of the Rockets. Over their two-game homestand against Kelowna, Washington Capitals prospect Terik Parascak (11G-19A in 18 GP) registered consecutive multi-point games as he is up to 30 points on the season. Parascak has points in five of six games in November, which includes four outings with two points or more. Similarly, Vegas Golden Knights Viliam Kmec (4G-21A in 20 GP) has points in five of six games in November, but he is up to five multi-point outings this month (1G-10A in 6 GP this November). Kmec’s strong offensive production through November has helped place him second among all WHL defencemen with 25 points in 2024-25. This week, the Cougars will look to build upon their strong record on home ice on Friday when they welcome the Blazers to the CN Centre before they travel to British Columbia’s biggest city for a contest against the Giants.
Games this week: vs. Kamloops (Nov. 22), @ Vancouver (Nov. 24)
7. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): With a pair of victories over the weekend to help maintain their place atop the OHL standings, the Kitchener Rangers (15-3-2-1) are up a couple of places in this week’s edition of the CHL Top-10. The Rangers have eight wins over the last 10 games and they only have one regulation loss to their name in 15 games over the last month. Kitchener has also scored four goals or more in nine of their last 10 contests (averaging 5.1 goals per game during that stretch). In their two victories, netminder Jackson Parsons (12-3-1-0 record, 2.29 GAA, .916 SV%, 2 SO in 16 GP) continued his strong play, as he turned aside 43-of-44 shots over those two games. Specifically, against Sarnia on Sunday, Parsons made 20 saves for his second shutout of the season. The 19-year-old from Embrun, Ont., leads the OHL with 12 wins and a 2.29 GAA. Meanwhile, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jake Pridham (1G-3A in 2 GP), who recently came over to Kitchener from the BCHL’s West Kelowna Warriors, registered points in his first two career games in the OHL. Pridham had an assist against the Petes on Friday before he registered a goal and two helpers in the Rangers’ victory over the Sting. This week, Kitchener will face a pair of CHL Top-10 teams – the No.1-ranked Knights and the No.10-ranked Spitfires – before traveling to Erie to face the Otters. The Rangers contest tonight against the Knights is the CHL Game of the Week, and it will be available to watch for free on CHL TV when the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Games this week: vs. London (Nov. 19), vs. Windsor (Nov. 22), @ Erie (Nov. 23)
8. Chicoutimi Saguenéens (QMJHL): Having registered an impressive 4-0 shutout victory over the Phoenix and suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 shootout loss to the No.3-ranked Voltigeurs last week, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens (13-4-2-3) have climbed up to eighth in this week’s rankings. Along with Moncton, the Sags are one of only two teams in the QMJHL to have won eight of their 10 games (8-1-0-1). The Saguenéens have also registered a point in three consecutive outings and they have yet to lose in regulation at home this season. Specifically, Chicoutimi is 7-0-2-2 at Centre Georges-Vézina during the 2024-25 campaign. During their 4-0 victory against Sherbrooke on home ice last week, 20-year-old forward Félix Gagnon (12G-7A in 22 GP) continued his strong play – scoring his team-leading 12th goal of the season. Gagnon also continues to pace the QMJHL with 353 faceoff wins as he holds a 62.3 winning percentage in the faceoff circle this season. Meanwhile, goaltender Raphaël Précourt (10-4-1-2 record, 2.76 GAA, .909 SV%, 2 SO in 17 GP) was excellent over his two starts last week, turning aside all 39 shots he faced against the Phoenix and Voltigeurs to collect his first two shutouts of the season. Over his last eight starts dating back to October 25, Précourt has registered a save percentage above .920 seven times, and recorded six wins over that stretch. This week, the Sags will look to improve their impressive record at home as they welcome the No.2-ranked Moncton Wildcats and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to Centre Georges-Vézina.
Games this week: vs. Moncton (Nov. 21), vs. Baie-Comeau (Nov. 22)
9. Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL): Having registered a point in nine straight games (7-0-1-1), the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (14-3-2-3) are making their 2024-25 CHL Top-10 debut this week in ninth. In 22 games this season, the Huskies are just one of four teams in the CHL to have registered three regulation losses or fewer so far (along with Moncton, Kitchener, and Everett). Over the last week, the Huskies strung together three victories over Val-d’Or (4-1), Halifax (4-3 OT), and Gatineau (4-3). During those three contests, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Bill Zonnon (12G-21A in 22 GP) recorded a team-best five points (1G-4A) over that stretch. As of today, in November, Zonnon ranks second in the QMJHL with 14 points (6G-8A) – just one point shy of the leaders at 15 points. The 17-year-old Zonnon also now has 33 points which puts him in a tie for the Huskies’ scoring lead alongside rookie Lars Steiner (12G-21A in 22 GP). Both Zonnon and Zonnon also sit among the top five scoring leaders in the QMJHL with their identical 12G-21A stat lines. Meanwhile, having picked up a goal and an assist last week, 2026 NHL NHL Draft prospect Steiner continues to pace all rookies in the CHL in goals (12) and points (33). Additionally, 20-year-old defenceman Ty Higgins (9G-19A in 22 GP) has enjoyed an excellent start to his 2024-25 campaign. With points in five of his last six contests, including five assists last week, Higgins paces all defencemen in the QMJHL with nine goals and 28 points this season. This week, Rouyn-Noranda will aim to continue its climb up the CHL Top-10 Rankings when they travel to Gatineau and Drummondville for games against the Olympiques and the No.3-ranked Voltigeurs.
Games this week: @ Gatineau (Nov. 21), @ Drummondville (Nov. 22)
10. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): With two losses in three games over the last week, the Windsor Spitfires (14-5-2-0) are down four spots in tenth this week. Specifically, the Spitfires have now lost four of their last six contests, having given five goals or more in each of those losses. If there is any kind of silver lining from last week, it is the fact that Windsor picked up a point in two of these games (1-1-1-0), having defeated North Bay (5-3) earlier in the week before losses to Sudbury (9-3) and the Soo (2-1 OT). Additionally, one of the bright spots for the Spitfires continues to be Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas (12G-11A in 18 GP). Protas registered a point in all three games over the last week, including his team-leading 12th goal of the season. Protas is now on a four-game point streak (2G-3A). Additionally, upon returning from a successful trip to the World U17 Hockey Challenge that saw him win gold with Canada White, rookie Ethan Belchetz (6G-8A) picked up a goal in two contests as he ranks tied for first in rookie scoring in the OHL with 14 points. This week, Windsor will aim to bounce back as they face the Colts, the No.7-ranked Rangers and the 67’s over three consecutive nights.
Games this week: vs. Barrie (Nov. 21), @ Kitchener (Nov. 22), vs. Ottawa (Nov. 23)
