2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 14
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 14 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
With 28 wins and only two regulation losses since October 20, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) sit atop the rankings for the seventh week in a row, the longest stretch of any club in the CHL this season. Right behind them continues to be the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), who have won nine of their last 10 games and currently stand as the lone 30-win team in the QMJHL this season. Rounding out the top three are the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL), who extended their point streak to nine games (6-0-1-2) and became the first WHL club to crack 30 wins in 2024-25 this past week.
Among the most notable changes to this week’s Top-10 rankings were the entry of the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL and the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. As the only WHL club with eight wins in their last 10 contests, a stretch that includes their current six-game winning streak, the Hitmen are making their Top-10 debut of the 2024-25 campaign in eighth this week. Meanwhile, with five wins in seven games since returning from their holiday break on December 29, the Generals come in at No. 9 and are back in the Top-10 rankings for the first time since the beginning of October.
The next rankings will be released the week of January 20, following the 15th week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 14
1. London Knights (OHL): As they continue to rake in the victories, having collected a pair of wins including an impressive 5-1 victory over the No. 4-ranked Windsor Spitfires, the London Knights (32-6-1-0) are back at No. 1 for the seventh straight week. No club in the CHL has been ranked first in the Top-10 Rankings over a longer period of time this season than the Knights. Similarly, they are the only club in the CHL to have won 32 games so far in 2024-25. They come into this week on a nine-game point streak (8-0-1-0), having also won 28 of their last 31 contests. Over the last week, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan (15G-15A in 22 GP) marked his return to London’s lineup by collecting a point in his first two games since returning from his time in Ottawa at the 2025 World Juniors. Cowan has a point in 58 consecutive regular-season contests dating back to November 25, 2023. Additionally, Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey (13G-39A in 32 GP) and Ottawa Senators prospect Blake Montgomery (17G-15A in 23 GP) continue their recent stretch of strong play. Barley collected three goals and seven points in the Knights’ two victories this past weekend. He’s now registered five consecutive multi-point outings, having amassed an OHL-best 18 points (6G-12A) since December 31. Meanwhile, Montgomery tallied a pair of goals in the London wins against the Spitfires and Attack over the weekend. The 19-year-old from Bowie, Maryland, is currently on a 10-game point streak (11G-9A over that stretch), as he has scored a goal in eight of his last 10 contests. This week, Montgomery, Barkey, and the Knights will look to keep the good times rolling when they welcome the Storm and Wolves at Canada Life Place in London over the weekend.
Games this week: vs. Guelph (Jan. 17), vs. Sudbury (Jan. 19)
2. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): As one of two clubs in the CHL to have won nine of their last 10 games (along with the No.4-ranked Windsor Spitfires), the Moncton Wildcats (31-6-2-0) continue to hold down the No. 2 spot in the rankings. It’s a place they have held for three straight weeks. The Wildcats are the only club in the QMJHL to have broken the 30-win plateau this season thus far. Their 31 wins trail only the No.1-ranked London Knights, while their +80 goal differential also ranks second in the CHL (trailing only the No.3-ranked Everett’s +85). Over the last week, Moncton won two of three games, falling short to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 6-5 on Saturday in their lone loss. During those three contests last week, Moncton was led in scoring by 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers (23G-33A in 34 GP), St. Louis Blues prospect Juraj Pekarcik (16G-24A in 33 GP), and 19-year-old forward Maxime Côté (12G-11A in 35 GP), who each tallied five points. Fresh of his World Juniors experience, Slovakian forward Perkarcik registered four goals and one assist over the week, including his first career QMJHL hat-trick against Rouyn-Noranda. Meanwhile, acquired by the Wildcats from the Sherbrooke Phoenix in December, Côté was among Moncton’s new acquisitions to have an impact. Among the others, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Dyllan Gill (0G-2A in 2 GP) registered a pair of points during his first week with his new QMJHL club, while 20-year-old goaltender Mathis Rousseau (10-17-5-0 record, 3.22 GAA & .903 SV% in 32 GP) registered his first victory with the Wildcats in one of his two starts last week. This week, Moncton will start at home with games against the Islanders and Remparts before traveling to Acadie-Bathurst to face the Titan on Sunday.
Games this week: vs. Charlottetown (Jan. 16), vs. Québec (Jan. 18), @ Acadie-Bathurst (Jan. 19)
3. Everett Silvertips (WHL): Having extended their point streak to nine games (6-0-1-2) over the last week, the Everett Silvertips (30-5-3-3) continue to rank among the top three for the fourth week in a row. Having won two contests over the last seven days, the Silvertips became the first team in the WHL to crack 30 wins this season. Through 41 games this season, Everett is allowing a CHL-low 2.44 goals per game and their +85 goal differential is the best of any club in the Canadian Hockey League. Over their three games last week, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Cole Temple (9G-17A in 37 GP) led the Silvertips in scoring with six points (0G-6A). Although he was held pointless for the first time since November 8, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (27G-30A in 34 GP) found the scoresheet on Saturday and Sunday as he now has registered a point in 16 of his last 17 games. The latter included Bear potting his CHL-best ninth game-winning goal of the 2024-25 campaign in a 4-1 Everett victory on Sunday. Meanwhile, goaltender Jesse Sanche (15-3-2-0 record, 2.21 GAA, .917 SV% & 1 SO in 21 GP) started in both of Everett’s victories last week, which included a 43-save performance against Spokane on Friday night. Sanche leads all WHL netminders (min. 780 minutes played) with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage this season. This week, the Silvertips will host the Wheat Kings and Cougars in a pair of home games this weekend.
Games this week: vs. Brandon (Jan. 17), vs. Prince George (Jan. 18)
4. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): As the only club in the OHL to have won nine of their last 10 games, the Windsor Spitfires (30-8-2-1) have moved up one spot to fourth in this week’s rankings. The Spitfires have been excellent as of late, as their only defeat over their previous 10 games came at the hands of the No. 1-ranked London Knights last Friday. Following that loss, the Spitfires responded on Saturday night by downing the Flint Firebirds 8-6 for their 30th win of the season. Windsor is one of just four teams in the CHL to have hit the 30-win plateau in 2024-25. They are the second-highest scoring club in the CHL thanks to their 4.56 goals per game average, trailing only the Knights (4.59). Over the two games last week, both Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas (29G-37A in 38 GP) and Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree (30G-42A in 40 GP) were among the three Spitfires to register a point both on Friday and Saturday night. Specifically, in addition to scoring Windsor’s lone goal in a 5-1 loss to the Knights, Protas tallied his second career OHL hat-trick along with a pair of assists against the Firebirds. Protas now has recorded two hat-tricks over the last nine days, and he has registered a point in 17 of his last 19 contests. Meanwhile, Greentree sits tied for first in scoring in both the OHL and CHL with 72 points. With a goal and two assists on Saturday in Flint, Greentree extended his current point streak to 10 games. Going back to December 14, both Greentree and Protas share the OHL scoring with 22 points in 10 games thanks to their identical 10G-12A stat lines during that stretch. This week, Windsor will be challenged once again when they welcome Sudbury to the WFCU Centre on Thursday, before hitting the road to face Barrie and No.9-ranked Oshawa this weekend.
Games this week: vs. Sudbury (Jan. 16), @ Barrie (Jan. 18), @ Oshawa (Jan. 19)
5. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): Registering a 1-1-1-0 record this past weekend, the Kitchener Rangers (29-8-3-1) slipped one spot to fifth in this week’s rankings. With seven wins over their last 10 games (7-2-1-0), the Rangers rank third in the OHL’s overall standings and just three points behind the league-leading London Knights. Kitchener is also just one win shy of becoming the fifth club in the CHL to reach 30 wins during the 2024-25 campaign. Over the last week, Ottawa Senators prospect Luke Ellinas (18G-14A in 41 GP) and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jack Pridham (12G-13A in 25 GP) both registered a team-high three points last week. Ellinas now has at least one point in four of his last outings, while Pridham has found the scoresheet in five of his last seven games. To cap off the weekend, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Cameron Reid (8G-24A in 41 GP) also impressed, as he found twine in consecutive games on Saturday and Sunday. Reid’s 31 points this season place him among the top-10 scoring defencemen in the OHL in 2024-25. This week, Kitchener will first host the Firebirds on Friday night before traveling to Brampton for a date against Seattle Kraken prospect Carson Rehkopf and the Steelheads on Saturday.
Games this week: vs. Flint (Jan. 17), @ Brampton (Jan. 18)
6. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): Currently riding a five-game point streak (4-0-0-1), which includes scoring a pair of victories over the last seven days, the Rimouski Océanic (26-10-0-2) are up one place in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. The Océanic started things off by securing their QMJHL-best 14th win on home ice in 2024-25 by defeating the Blainville-Boisbriand 4-2 last Friday. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts now hold a 14-2-0-1 record at the Colisée Financière Sun Life this season. Their two regulation losses at home are also tied for the fewest of any club in the CHL. The Océanic scored an impressive 6-2 victory on the road against the Acadie-Bathurst over the weekend. Playing in his first pair of games since returning from the 2025 World Juniors, Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford (11G-31A in 29 GP) led the team with four points (0G-4A) during Rimouski’s two victories. QMJHL scoring leader Jonathan Fauchon (30G-34A in 38 GP) was right behind him, picking up a point in both contests to extend his current point streak to 16 games (14G-16A over that stretch), which dates back to November 22. Fauchon’s 16-game point streak is the longest of any skater in the QMJHL this season. Speaking of streaks, captain Jacob Mathieu (28G-17A in 35 GP) has also been on a tear of late, as he has scored a goal in five straight games (collecting eight over that stretch). This week, Rimouski will look to improve on its impressive record at home when they welcome the Mooseheads, Cataractes, and Eagles to the Colisée Financière Sun Life. Océanic fans will also be hoping that this week they will get to see the debut of their newest star forward, Eriks Mateiko (14G-5A in 23 GP), who has yet to make his debut for Rimouski yet.
Games this week: vs. Halifax (Jan. 15), vs. Shawinigan (Jan. 17), vs. Cape Breton (Jan. 19)
7. Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL): With just five wins over their last 10 contests (5-4-0-1), the Drummondville Voltigeurs (27-9-2-2) have fallen down the rankings for a fourth consecutive week to place seventh in the latest CHL Top-10 Rankings. Since coming back from the holiday break, Drummondville has won four of eight games and lost four of their last seven. Last week was a bit of an improvement as the Voltigeurs shut out the Saint John Sea Dogs (3-0) and beat the Halifax Mooseheads (4-2), before falling short to the Cape Breton Eagles 5-2. The latter marked the third time in six games that they have given up five goals to their opponent, which might help explain their recent struggles. Through 40 games in 2024-25, Drummondville is allowing only 2.58 goals per game, which ranks as the third-lowest average in the CHL (behind only No.3-ranked Everett’s 2.44 & No.2-ranked Moncton’s 2.49). Over the last week, Voltigeurs captain Luke Woodworth (13G-43A in 38 GP) led the team in scoring by registering five assists, as he continues to lead the QMJHL with 43 assists this season. Meanwhile, his teammate Sam Oliver (34G-15A in 40 GP) potted a pair of goals during Drummondville’s three games to maintain his goal-scoring lead in the QMJHL with 34 goals in 2024-25. Those 34 goals ultimately place him second among goal scorers in the CHL this season (trailing only 2025 NHL Draft prospect Michael Misa, who has 35). Another bright spot for reigning QMJHL champions was the return of Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Ethan Gauthier (15G-22A in 27 GP), who in his return from the 2025 World Juniors, tallied two goals in three games last week. This week, the Voltigeurs will look to continue to find the win column when they welcome the Eagles and Mooseheads to Centre Marcel Dionne, before traveling to Baie-Comeau to face the Drakkar on Sunday.
Games this week: vs. Cape Breton (Jan. 16), vs. Halifax (Jan. 17), @ Baie-Comeau (Jan. 19)
8. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): As the only team in the WHL to have won eight of their last 10 games, which includes their current six-game winning streak, the Calgary Hitmen (24-11-3-1) are making their Top-10 debut of the 2024-25 season in eighth this week. Since December 7, the Hitmen have earned 12 victories over their last 14 outings. Calgary’s success over the last five weeks has helped improve their point percentage to .615 on the season, which ranks as the third-best mark in the WHL (trailing only No.3-ranked Everett’s .732 and No.10-ranked Spokane’s .659). During their current six-game winning streak, the Hitmen have scored four goals or more in each of those victories. A big part of their offensive outburst has been the play of 19-year-old forward Oliver Tulk (22G-44A in 39 GP) and 2025 NHL Draft prospect Ben Kindel (24G-40A in 38 GP). Named to the CHL’s Team of the Month for December, Tulk registered a WHL-best eight points (5G-3A) over the last week. The latter included recording a point in all three Hitmen victories and a hat-trick against Moose Jaw on Wednesday. Having extended his point streak to 20 games, Tulk stands only one point shy of the WHL scoring leader Andrew Cristall (67 points). The only WHL player to have held a longer point streak than Tulk’s current 20-gamer is Kindel, who is in the midst of a 23-game point streak. By registering a point in 23 straight games dating back to November 8, the 2025 NHL Draft prospect has established a new franchise record for the longest point streak by a Hitmen player (breaking the previous mark of 20 set by Pavel Brendl 25 years ago). Meanwhile, Calgary has only gotten stronger over the last couple of months. They bolstered their lineup recently by bringing in Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio (5G-15A in 20 GP), 19-year-old forward Carson Birnie (9G-11A in 39 GP), and veteran goaltender Daniel Hauser (11-9-2-1 record, 3.08 GAA & .904 SV% in 25 GP). That trio was in addition to the acquisition back in late November of Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Tanner Howe (9G-9A in 18 GP), who has 11 points in eight games with his newest WHL club. This week, still in the absence of Ottawa Senators prospect Carter Yakemchuk (14G-20A in 31 GP) who is out with a lower-body injury, Calgary will look to extend its six-game winning streak when it faces Gavin McKenna and the Medicine Hat Tigers for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday, before returning home on Sunday for a showdown against the Pats at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Games this week: vs. Medicine Hat (Jan. 17), @ Medicine Hat (Jan. 18), vs. Regina (Jan. 19)
9. Oshawa Generals (OHL): With seven victories over their last nine games, a stretch that includes a three-game winning streak, the Oshawa Generals (25-13-2-1) are back in the CHL Top-10 for the first time since the Week 1 rankings were released on October 3. Their recent stretch of success has allowed the Generals to climb up the OHL’s overall standings as they sit tied for fourth with the Niagara IceDogs. Over the last week, Oshawa was busy bolstering its lineup. They acquired Nashville Predators prospect and defenceman Andrew Gibson (5G-5A in 28 GP) from the Soo Greyhounds following Gibson’s World Juniors experience playing for Team Canada in Ottawa. The Generals then got a full commitment from promising 2025 NHL Draft prospect Simon Wang (5 GP), who is now expected to be with the club for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign. Then, on Friday, Oshawa signed Philadelphia Flyers prospect Noah Powell (0G-2A in 2 GP) – making him the seventh NHL prospect on the roster. In his first two games with the Generals, Powell picked up an assist in each game. Meanwhile, the other stars for the Generals came to play over the last week. Colorado Avalanche prospect Calum Ritchie (10G-31A in 21 GP) has recorded three consecutive multi-point games since returning from the 2025 World Juniors. Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke (28G-35A in 35 GP) has registered eight multi-point games over his last nine outings (7G-12A over that stretch), while Winnipeg Jets prospect Colby Barlow (21G-13A in 38 GP) has strung together a four-game point streak. This week, Oshawa will have a busy weekend as they face the Bulldogs in a home-and-home series on Friday and Saturday, before coming back home to face the No.4-ranked Spitfires on Sunday
Games this week: vs. Brantford (Jan. 17), @ Brantford (Jan. 18), vs. Windsor (Jan. 19)
10. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): Having split their only two games of the week, one of them a 4-2 loss to the No.3-ranked Everett Silvertips, the Spokane Chiefs (27-14-0-0) remain idle at No. 10 in this week’s rankings. Although they hold a 5-5-0-0 record over their last 10 contests, the Chiefs have won three of their last four games. Spokane continues to rank second in the WHL’s overall standings, while their .659 point percentage is the second-best mark in the WHL (behind only No. 3-ranked Everett’s .732). Less than a week ago, the Chiefs made one of the biggest splashes of the 2024-25 WHL Trade Deadline by acquiring Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (29G-38A in 30 GP) from the Kelowna Rockets in a blockbuster deal. Unsurprisingly, Cristall didn’t take long to have an impact with his new CHL club. In what was his second game as a member of the Chiefs, Cristall matched a career-high by tallying seven points (3G-4A), including a hat-trick, against the Wenatchee Wild on Saturday. His seven-point outing pushed Cristall into the scoring lead of the WHL with 67 points. His 29 goals rank second among WHL skaters and only trail his teammate Shea Van Olm (31G-25A in 39 GP), who also recorded a hat-trick against the Wild on Sunday. Cristall and Van Olm became the first pair of Chiefs’ teammates to each record a hat trick in the same game since Hudson Elynuik and Jaret Anderson-Dolan each scored three in November 2016. Similarly, Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton (15G-39A in 30 GP) also recorded seven points (1G-6A) in the Chiefs’ 12-2 victory over the Wild. Catton, who is now playing on a line with Van Olm and Cristall, has points in nine of his last 11 games, which includes seven multi-point outings. This week, the Chiefs and their high-powered top line will look to build off that 12-2 victory against the Wild when they travel to Kelowna to play the Rockets on Wednesday before heading home to face the Cougars in Spokane. Fans can catch the Chiefs’ battle against Cristall’s former club, the Rockets, live at 7:05 p.m. PT for free on the WHL’s YouTube channel and WHL Live on CHL TV as part of the WHL’s Wednesday Night in The Dub program.
Games this week: @ Kelowna (Jan. 15), vs. Prince George (Jan. 17)
