- Kamloops went undefeated and defended their Memorial Cup title on home ice as the Blazers prevailed 8-2 over the Detroit Junior Red Wings in the Championship game on May 21, 1995; Darcy Tucker, Ryan Huska and Tyson Nash ended their four year careers in junior hockey with three Memorial Cup rings
- Curtis Lazar’s heroics in triple overtime ended the longest game in MasterCard Memorial Cup history at 102 minutes and 42 seconds on May 23, 2014; the Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the Val-d’Or Foreurs 4-3 in the semi-final game before capturing the 2014 Memorial Cup
- On May 25, 2008, Spokane Chiefs’ goaltender Dustin Tokarski earned MasterCard Memorial Cup MVP honours after turning aside 53 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Kitchener Rangers in the Championship game; in one of the most memorable moments in MasterCard Memorial Cup history, the trophy broke during the celebration

This Week in WHL History:
- On the back of Kevin Nastiuk’s WHL Playoff MVP performance, the Medicine Hat Tigers lifted the WHL Championship Trophy on May 5, 2004 after sweeping the Everett Silvertips; Nastiuk posted back-to-back shutouts in games two and three and owns the third longest shutout streak in the playoffs at 194 minutes and 19 seconds
- In the 2006 Western Conference Championship series, Vancouver Giants’ netminder Dustin Slade blanked the Everett Silvertips in three consecutive games as Vancouver went on to win 12 games in a row to hoist the WHL Championship Trophy; Slade set the record for the longest shutout streak in playoff history at 198 minutes and 17 seconds after finally allowing a goal in a 5-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on May 5, 2006
- On May 7, 1995, Ryan Huska scored the overtime winner as the Kamloops Blazers defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings in six games to capture their third WHL Championship in four years; Darcy Tucker also potted a hat trick in the 5-4 victory
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: APRIL 28 – MAY 4

This Week in WHL History:
- On Apr. 29, 1989, the Swift Current Broncos hoisted their first League title and became the only Club in WHL history to win every single game in the playoffs; their 12-game winning streak included sweeps over Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Portland
- The Victoria Cougars captured the WHL Championship after rallying from a 3-1 series deficit versus the Calgary Wranglers; Terry Sydoryk scored the winner with 1:53 left in game seven on May 1, 1981 as the Cougars won by a score of 4-2
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: APRIL 21 – APRIL 27

This Week in WHL History:
- On Apr. 24, 2012, the Edmonton Oil Kings recorded their 11th straight victory to start the playoffs and were on a 22-game winning streak dating back to the end of the regular season
- Facing a 3-1 deficit in the Western Conference championship series versus the Kelowna Rockets, the Everett Silvertips mounted an impressive comeback by winning three consecutive games in overtime; Bryan Nathe and John Dahl notched the OT winners in game five and six respectively before Jeff Schmidt’s heroics in game seven on Apr. 27, 2004 clinched a berth in the WHL Final for the Silvertips in their inaugural season
- Max Reinhart buried a playoff record-tying five goals as the Kootenay ICE defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 7-2 to sweep the Eastern Conference championship series on Apr. 27, 2011; Reinhart started the game with a natural hat trick before potting two shorthanded goals and Kootenay picked up a win for the 11th game in a row
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: APRIL 14 – APRIL 20
This Week in WHL History:
- Red Deer Rebels’ netminder Cam Ward holds the fourth longest shutout string in the playoffs at 186 minutes and 27 seconds; he posted back-to-back shutouts over Moose Jaw and Medicine Hat before finally allowing a goal on Apr. 17, 2004
- Before he was the head coach of the Spokane Chiefs, Don Nachbaur netted a playoff record-tying five goals as a player for the Billings Bighorns in a 7-4 victory over the New Westminster Bruins on Apr. 20, 1978
- From Apr. 14 – 20, 2008, Spokane Chiefs’ goaltender Dustin Tokarski recorded the fifth longest shutout streak in the playoffs at 186 minutes and 15 seconds; his shutout streak was a part of a sensational five-game stretch where he registered three shutouts against Vancouver as well as Tri-City and only allowed two goals
- Matt Calvert of the Brandon Wheat Kings potted a natural hat trick in the second period while shorthanded in a 6-3 loss to the Calgary Hitmen on Apr. 20, 2010

- Brennan Bosch scored the winner in triple overtime to lift the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the Saskatoon Blades on Apr. 8, 2006; it stands as the fourth longest game in WHL history at 119 minutes and 41 seconds

- The Prince Albert Raiders were on the brink of elimination in the second round and down 3-1 in the series against the Regina Pats; the Raiders collected three victories in a row including a 5-1 win on Apr. 10, 1996 to complete the comeback
- Blake Gal was the hero in quadruple overtime as the Spokane Chiefs prevailed over the Vancouver Giants 4-3 on Apr. 10, 2009; it was the second longest game in WHL history at 126 minutes and five seconds and the first of three straight games between the two Clubs that was decided in extra time

This Week in WHL History:
- The Prince George Cougars came back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Kamloops Blazers by collecting three victories in a row including a 2-1 win on Mar. 31, 1998 to complete the comeback
- Apparently home ice advantage didn’t matter in the first round series between the Portland Winterhawks and the Spokane Chiefs in the 2010 WHL Playoffs as the road team prevailed in every single game; Portland trailed 3-0 in game seven on Mar. 31, 2010 but the Winterhawks battled back as 16-year-old Ty Rattie notched the overtime winner to win the game by a score of 5-4; it was Rattie’s first of his WHL record 50 career playoff goals
- On Apr. 3, 1986, the Kamloops Blazers erased a 7-0 deficit in game four of their first round series versus the Seattle Thunderbirds to win the game by a score of 9-8; Greg Hawgood tied the game with one second left in regulation before Rob Brown netted the overtime winner as both players potted hat tricks in the game
- Facing a huge 3-0 deficit in the first round series versus the Portland Winter Hawks, the Spokane Chiefs rallied to win four consecutive games; Darren Sinclair’s heroics in overtime on Apr. 3, 1996 clinched the series for the Chiefs
- On Apr. 3, 2013, Tyson Baillie potted a hat trick and the overtime winner in the pivotal game seven as the Kelowna Rockets erased a 3-0 series deficit against the Seattle Thunderbirds; five of the seven games in the series were decided in extra time
- Prince Albert Raiders’ goaltender Kenton Rein holds the second longest shutout string in the playoffs at 196 minutes and 45 seconds; he posted back-to-back shutouts before finally allowing a goal in the second period of a 3-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Apr. 5, 1986
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: MARCH 24 – 30

This Week in WHL History:
- The Victoria Cougars recorded their 60th win of the season on Mar. 24, 1981 as Victoria defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-1; the Cougars are the only Club in WHL history to achieve 60 wins in a season
- Portland Winter Hawk’s defenceman Jim Benning picked up a point for the 45th consecutive game on Mar. 25, 1981 and he netted 95 points in total over that streak; it is the fourth longest point scoring streak in WHL history
- Colin Sinclair’s heroics in quadruple overtime ended the longest game in WHL history at 136 minutes and 56 seconds on Mar. 25, 2003; the Kootenay ICE prevailed over the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 in that game and the ICE won the series in six games including three overtime victories
- Craig Cunningham scored the winner in triple overtime to lift the Vancouver Giants to a 4-3 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins on Mar. 25, 2008; it stands as the fifth longest game in WHL history at 119 minutes and 13 seconds

- Alfie Turcotte of the Portland Winter Hawks notched a playoff record-tying eight points (4g-4a) in a 13-4 win over the Seattle Breakers on Mar. 26, 1983
- Brandon Wheat Kings forward Dave Chartier tallied five goals and eight points in a 13-4 triumph over the Regina Pats on Mar. 27, 1981; Chartier is tied for most goals and points in a single playoff game
- On Mar. 28, 1994,Jason Clague became the only goaltender to score a goal in the playoffs; Clague was credited for a goal that ended up as the game-winner in the Red Deer Rebels’ 4-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes
- On Mar. 28, 2007, Devin Setoguchi of the Prince George Cougars potted the game-winner for the third consecutive game and his second overtime winner in that span;the Cougars swept the close series against the Kamloops Blazers as all four games were decided by one goal with three ending in overtime
- The Calgary Hitmen were on the verge of elimination in the first round and down 3-1 in the series against the Moose Jaw Warriors; the Hitmen rallied to win three straight games including a 6-2 win on Mar. 29, 2010 to complete the comeback
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: MARCH 17 – 23

This Week in WHL History:
- Seattle Thunderbirds forward Glenn Goodall recorded his 262nd career goal on Mar. 18, 1990 to become the current all-time goal scoring leader in WHL history
- Josh Holden scored the winner in quadruple overtime to lift the Regina Pats to a 3-2 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Mar. 21, 1996; it stands as the third longest game in WHL history at 122 minutes and 46 seconds
- On Mar. 23, 1979, the Brandon Wheat Kings downed the Regina Pats 9-3; Brandon picked up their 125th point of the season which is the WHL record for most points in a season
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: MARCH 10 – 16

This Week in WHL History:
- Saskatoon Blades forward Gerry Pinder tallied a record-tying 10 points, including five goals and seven points in the third period, in a 17-5 triumph over the Calgary Buffaloes on Mar. 12, 1967
- On Mar. 14, 1997,Peter Schaefer began the game with a natural hat-trick while Brandon was shorthanded to lead the Wheat Kings to a 8-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers; Schaefer tied a WHL record for the most shorthanded goals by one player in a single game
- Lucas Gore of the Chilliwack Bruins holds the WHL record for most saves in a regular season game; Gore turned aside 77 shots on Mar. 16, 2011 as the Spokane Chiefs edged the Bruins 2-1 in a shootout
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: MARCH 3 – MARCH 9

This Week in WHL History:
- Tri-City Americans forward Brian Sakic recorded his 574th career point on Mar. 3, 1992 to break the WHL record for most points over a career; Sakic, who also played for the Swift Current Broncos, still holds that record and finished his career with 591 points
- The Moose Jaw Warriors erased a 4-0 deficit after two periods to defeat the Saskatoon Blades 5-4 in overtime on Mar. 3, 2013; Brayden Point led the way with four points while Tanner Eberle potted the OT winner as Moose Jaw ended Saskatoon’s 18-game winning streak

- Jason Ruff of the Lethbridge Hurricanes found the back of the net for the 16th game in a row on Feb. 27, 1991 and he buried 20 goals in total over that streak; it is tied for the second longest goal scoring streak in WHL history
- Darrell May Jr. of the Portland Winter Hawks potted the overtime winner for the third straight game on Feb. 27, 2004
- On Mar. 2, 1990, Wes Walz provided seven helpers as the Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Prince Albert Raiders 13-3
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: FEBRUARY 18 – FEBRUARY 24

This Week in WHL History:
- On Feb. 21, 2011, a WHL record 20,888 people attended the outdoor game at McMahon Stadium between the Calgary Hitmen and Regina Pats; Chandler Stephenson potted the game-winner with only 37 seconds left in regulation to give Regina a 3-2 victory over Calgary
- Jock Callander of the Regina Pats picked up a point for the 47th consecutive game onFeb. 23, 1982 and he netted 141 points in total over that streak; it is tied for the second longest point scoring streak in WHL history
- Callander’s teammate, Wally Schreiber, also had a 47-game point streak and Schreiber recorded 99 points over his streak
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: FEBRUARY 11 – FEBRUARY 17

This Week in WHL History:
- On Feb. 11, 1983, the Regina Pats scored four short-handed goals in the second period and went on to defeat the Portland Winter Hawks by a score of 9-4
- Al Conroy tallied nine points (5g-4a) as the Medicine Hat Tigers prevailed 19-2 over the Winnipeg Warriors on Feb. 11, 1984; Medicine Hat tied the record for the most goals by one team in a single game
- The Kelowna Rockets set a WHL record for the fastest three goals in a game on Feb. 17, 1996 in an 11-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars;the Rockets scored three power-play goals injust 12 seconds with the goals coming at 12:25, 12:30 and 12:37 of the third period
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: FEBRUARY 4 – FEBRUARY 10

This Week in WHL History:
- On Feb. 4, 2005, Braydon Coburn lit the lamp four times to tie the record for the most goals by a defenceman in a game as the Portland Winter Hawks downed the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-4
- Craig Lyons set up six of the Kamloops Blazers’ 11 goals in the second period in a 13-0 win over the Tacoma Rockets on Feb. 7, 1992; Lyons holds the record for the most assists in one period while Kamloops’ 11 markers are tied for the most goals by one team in a single period
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: JANUARY 28 – FEBRUARY 3

This Week in WHL History:
- Brandon Wheat Kings forward Bill Derlago is the fastest player to score 50 goals in league history;Derlago set the mark in just 27 games with a two-goal performance on Jan. 31, 1978 after returning from an injury
- Dean Sexsmith of the Seattle Thunderbirds scored just five seconds into the game setting the WHL record for the fastest goal to start a game; Sexsmith potted a hat trick in the game as the Thunderbirds won by a score of 7-6 over the Victoria Cougars on Jan. 31, 1987
- On Jan. 31, 1990, Tri-City Americans forward Kalvin Knibbs buried a record-tying three short-handed goals in a 9-6 triumph against the Spokane Chiefs
- Calgary Hitmen goaltender Chris Driedger was credited for a goal but the Hitmen lost 5-2 to the Kootenay ICE on Feb. 1, 2014
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: JANUARY 21 – 27

This Week in WHL History:
- On Jan. 25, 1977, Brian Propp sniped a record-tying seven goals as the Brandon Wheat Kings doubled up the Portland Winter Hawks 12-6
- Trailing 4-0 after two periods, the Portland Winter Hawks rallied for a 5-4 comeback win over the Calgary Wranglers on Jan. 26, 1983;Curt Brandolini and Randy Heath scored with under a minute left in regulation to tie the game at 4-4 which set the stage for Cam Neely’s heroics in overtime
- On Jan. 26, 2002, Nathan Paetsch tied the record for the most goals by a defenceman in a game with four markers as the Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Swift Current Broncos 7-1
- Seattle Thunderbirds forward Glenn Goodall tied a WHL record by potting three short-handed goals in a 10-4 win over the Victoria Cougars on Jan. 27, 1990
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: JANUARY 14 – 20

This Week in WHL History:
- The first outdoor game in the WHL took place at Avista Stadium on Jan. 15, 2011 as the Spokane Chiefs prevailed over the Kootenay ICE 11-2
- The Swift Current Broncos potted a record-tying 10 power play goals in a 11-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Jan. 17, 1989; Brian Sakic buried three goals while Dan Lambert contributed six assists and Sheldon Kennedy provided five helpers
- On Jan. 17, 1992, Shayne Green scored the overtime winner to complete the comeback as the Kamloops Blazers scored six unanswered goals to erase a 5-0 deficit to defeat the Prince Albert Raiders 6-5
- Regina Pats forward Dennis Sobchuk tallied a record-tying 10 points (6g-4a), including five goals in the second period, in an 11-3 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Jan. 19, 1973

This Week in WHL History:
- Brandon Wheat Kings’ forward Kelly Glowa tied a WHL record with a 10 point (5g-5a) performance in a 12-6 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders on Jan. 9, 1983
- On Jan. 13, 1968, Chris Worthy of the Flin Flon Bombers posted his fourth consecutive shutout; Worthy owns the longest shutout string for games (four) as well as minutes (265 minutes and 13 seconds)

- Kamloops Blazers’ netminder Devan Dubynkmade 64 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets on Jan. 1, 2005; Dubynk was the difference as Kelowna outshot Kamloops 66-17

- Regina Pats forward Jordan Eberle tied the game with 5.4 seconds left and then scored in the shootout as Team Canada defeated Russia 6-5 in the semi-finals at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship on Jan. 3, 2009

- On Jan. 4, 1988, five Medicine Hat Tigers players (Trevor Linden, Mark Pederson, Rob DiMaio, Wayne McBean and Scott McCrady) guided Team Canada to a gold medal at the 1988 IIHF World Junior Championship

This Week in WHL History:
- Mark McKay of the Moose Jaw Warriors potted a record-tying seven goals on Dec. 19, 1984 in a 12-3 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings
- On Dec. 29, 1992, Tacoma Rockets’ netminder Jeff Calvert scored a goal in a 6-4 comeback victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors; Calvert made 26 saves in relief and added an assist as Tacoma erased a 4-0 deficit to win the game
- Medicine Hat Tigers forward Tom Lysiak notched a record-tying 10 points (4g-6a) as the Tigers doubled up the Edmonton Oil Kings 12-6 on Dec. 30, 1971
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: DECEMBER 10 – DECEMBER 16

This Week in WHL History:
- The Estevan Bruins had a 22 game winning streak from Oct. 6, 1967 to Dec. 12. 1967; it is the second longest winning streak in WHL history during the regular season
- On Dec. 13, 1978, the Brandon Wheat Kings had their 29 game unbeaten streak snapped as the Edmonton Oil Kings scored all nine of their goals on the power play to defeat Brandon 9-4; Brandon owns the longest unbeaten streak during one regular season and it stretches to 49 games if the previous campaign is included
- Brandon Wheat Kings forward Ray Ferraro is the second fastest player to score 50 goals in league history; Ferraro broke that mark in just 32 games as he sniped four goals in a 11-6 victory over the Lethbridge Broncos on Dec. 14, 1983
- On Dec. 15, 1984, Cliff Ronning of the New Westminster Bruins potted a goal for the 18th straight game and he buried 27 goals in total over that streak; it is the longest goal scoring streak in WHL history
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: DECEMBER 3 – DECEMBER 9

This Week in WHL History:
- Jim Harrison of the Estevan Bruins scored a natural hat trick in a span of 24 seconds during the last minute of the game in a 6-5 comeback win over the Regina Pats on Dec. 4. 1966; it still stands as a record for the fastest three goals by an individual
- On Dec. 9, 2006, the Everett Silvertips erased a 3-0 deficit after two periods by scoring three power play goals in the third period including Peter Mueller’s marker with four seconds left in regulation to tie the game versus the Seattle Thunderbirds; Zach Hamill scored the lone goal in the shootout to win the game
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: NOVEMBER 26 – DECEMBER 2

- On Nov. 29, 1989, Olaf Kolzig of the Tri-City Americans became the first goaltender in WHL history to score a goal in a 5-2 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds
- Wayne Babych of the Portland Winter Hawks tied a WHL record for the fastest two goals by an individual on Nov. 30, 1976,when he scored twice in a span of five seconds during the first period of a 15-1 triumph over the Regina Pats
- Ian Duval scored the opening goal that sent a record 26,919 teddy bears onto the ice in the Calgary Hitmen’s annual Teddy Bear Toss game on Dec. 2, 2007; Calgary won the game by a score of 6-2 over the Prince George Cougars

This Week in WHL History:
- Dennis Holland of the Portland Winter Hawks scored a record-tying seven goals onNov. 23, 1988 as Portland doubled up the Kamloops Blazers 10-5; Troy Mick picked up an assist on all seven of Holland’s markers
- On Nov. 24, 2007, Kurtis Muchastood on his head by stopping 65 shots as the Portland Winterhawks edged the Chilliwack Bruins 4-3 in the ‘Hawks annual Teddy Bear Toss game
- John Neeld of the Seattle Breakers provided seven helpers in an 11-5 triumph over the New Westminster Bruins on Nov. 24, 1979

This Week in WHL History:
- On Nov. 15, 2014, Brandon Magee tied a Victoria Royals franchise record for the most points in a game by providing five assists to pace the Royals to a 7-5 win versus the Vancouver Giants
- Brett McLean potted three shorthanded goals including the game winner to lead the Kelowna Rockets to a 5-4 victory over the Regina Pats on Nov. 18, 1997; McLean tied a WHL record for the most SHG by one player in a single game
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: NOVEMBER 5 – NOVEMBER 11

This Week in WHL History:
- Brian Propp of the Brandon Wheat Kings started the 1978-79 season on a 15-game goal scoring string as he notched his 28th goal over that span on Nov. 5, 1978
- On Nov. 5, 1982, Dale Derkatch of the Regina Pats tallied a goal for the 15th consecutive game and he netted 30 goals in total over that streak
- On Nov. 7, 1992, Shayne Toporowski of the Prince Albert Raiders tied a WHL record for the fastest two goals by an individual when he scored twice in a span of five seconds midway through the first period in a 6-3 victory over the Regina Pats
- The Saskatoon Blades set a WHL record for the fastest six goals in a game on Nov. 9, 1982 in a 13-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders;the Blades scored six goals inonly 114 seconds with the goals coming at 5:59, 6:37, 6:52, 7:04, 7:29 and 7:53 of the first period
- Rob Brown recorded nine points (6G-3A) to lead the Kamloops Blazers to a 10-3 victory over the Spokane Chiefs on Nov. 11, 1986; it was the first of two nine-point performances over five games during the record breaking 212-point season for Brown
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: OCTOBER 29 – NOVEMBER 4

This Week in WHL History:
- On Oct. 29, 1989, Stu Barnes racked up seven assists as the Tri-City Americans beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 10-3
- Team Alberta was victorious at the inaugural Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup in Blackfalds, AB on Nov. 1, 2009; Alberta defeated Manitoba by a score of 6-4 in the gold medal match
- Darren Kwiatkowski of the Regina Pats scored the opening goal only six seconds into the game on Nov. 1, 1987 in a 9-2 triumph over the Victoria Cougars; the goal is tied for the second fastest goal to start a game
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: OCTOBER 22-28

This Week in WHL History:
- The sixth-most attended game in WHL history took place on Oct. 26, 1995 when the Portland Winter Hawks played their first-ever game in their new arena, the Rose Garden; Deny Gaudet scored the winner as Portland edged the Saskatoon Blades 5-4 sending the 18,655 fans in attendance home happy
- On Oct. 27, 2013, Aspen Sterzer of the Kamloops Blazers scored six seconds into the game tying the record for the second fastest goal to start a game; however, it was the only Blazers goal of the night as Kamloops lost by a score of 4-1 to the Vancouver Giants
- The Saskatoon Blades set a WHL record on Oct. 27, 1982 by tallying five shorthanded goals in a single game; Ron Dreger potted two of those in the 7-5 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: OCTOBER 15-21

This Week in WHL History:
- Lorne Henning of the Estevan Bruins scored the opening goal only six seconds into the game on Oct. 16, 1969 as the Bruins eventually won the game 6-5 versus the Calgary Centennials; the goal is tied for the second fastest goal to start a game
- The Prince George Cougars recorded their first win in history as Steve Dowhy potted four goals in a 10-5 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks on Oct. 17, 1994
- On Oct. 20, 1978, Ken Federko of the Saskatoon Blades picked up his 44th assist over a 29 game span;the second longest assist streak in WHL history started on Feb. 22 of the previous season
- Matt Schmermund of the Kamloops Blazers tied a WHL record for the fastest two goals by an individual on Oct. 20, 2006 when he scored twice in a span of five seconds midway through the second period in an 8-5 triumph over the Saskatoon Blades
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: OCTOBER 8-14

This Week in WHL History:
- The Everett Silvertips recorded their first win in franchise history defeating the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 on Oct. 8, 2003
- On Oct. 9, 1981, the Victoria Cougars prevailed over the Kamloops Junior Oilers 7-5 which extended the Cougars’ regular season winning streak to 24 games; the streak spanned over two seasons and it still stands as a WHL record
- On Oct. 9, 1987, Dale Marquette provided seven helpers as the Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Swift Current Broncos 12-5
- Doug Trapp of the Regina Pats also set up his teammates seven times on Oct. 10, 1984in a 12-3 triumph over the Seattle Breakers
- On Oct. 11, 2008, the Tri-City Americans were trailing the Regina Pats 3-1 with less than four minutes to go in the game when Justin Feser potted a natural hat trick including the OT winner to secure the victory for the Americans
- The Seattle Thunderbirds recorded their first ever win on Oct. 11, 1985 with Craig Endean netting a hat trick in a 5-3 victory over the Spokane Chiefs
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: OCTOBER 1-7

This Week in WHL History:
- Kimbi Daniels of the Swift Current Broncos tied a record for the most goals by an individual in one game by scoring all seven goals on Oct. 2, 1990 in a 7-4 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers
- On Oct. 3, 1990, Brian Sakic netted a record-tying ten points in a single game as the Tri-City Americans found the back of the net 19 times, which also ties a WHL record (Tri-City won by a score of 19-3 over the Seattle Thunderbirds)
- The first goal in Kamloops Blazers history belongs to Rob Brown on Oct. 5, 1984 as the Blazers also picked up their first win, a 3-1 triumph over the Kelowna Wings
- Boyd Anderson of the Medicine Hat Tigers scored five goals in a span of only three minutes and seven seconds on Oct. 7, 1972 breaking the record for the fastest five goals in one game by an individual as the Tigers recorded a 10-1 win against the Flin Flon Bombers
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: SEPTEMBER 20-30

This Week in WHL History:
- JP Szaszkiewicz potted the game-winner with one second left in regulation as the Edmonton Oil Kings won their first game in modern franchise history, a 4-3 decision over the Kootenay Ice on Sept. 20, 2007
- On Sept. 20, 1996, John Kachur scored the first goal in Edmonton Ice history as well as the overtime winner in an 8-7 victory over the Calgary Hitmen
- Ironically in the season before on Sept. 23, 1995, Kachur scored the first goal in Hitmen history
- Shannon Szabados became the first and only female to play a regular season game in the WHL on Sept. 22, 2002 as she made a relief appearance for the Tri-City Americans
- On Sept. 23, 2011, Steven Hodges scored the first goal in Victoria Royals history; the next day, the Royals went on to record their first win
- The Tri-City Americans scored a record-tying ten power play goals in a 16-3 win over the Victoria Cougars on Sept. 30, 1990
