SUNDAY’S WHL ROUND-UP

HITMEN DOUBLE UP HURRICANES – Jake Virtanen scored a hat trick and Brady Brassart added a pair of goals as the Calgary Hitmen skated to a 6-3 win over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.

Mack Shields made 24 saves in the Hitmen cage, taking the win, while Ryan Pilon and Giorgio Estephan each got their third goals of the season in the loss for the ‘Canes.

WARRIORS 4, RAIDERS 3

Jack Rodewald scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season and Zachary Sawchenko made 23 saves for the win as the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors downed the Prince Albert Raiders 4-3 on Sunday.

OIL KINGS 3, ICE 2  O/T

Henrik Samuelsson scored 41 seconds into overtime to lead the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Kootenay Ice on Sunday.  It was the second meeting in as many days between the teams, with Kootenay having won on Saturday.

SILVERTIPS 4, BRONCOS 1

Josh Winquist scored and set up two more while Austin Lotz turned in a 25-save effort as the Everett Silvertips post4ed a 4-1 triumph over the visiting Swift Current Broncos on Sunday.  The win was Everett’s second straight, while the Broncos fell for the fourth straight game.
