SILVERTIPS ACQUIRE MILLAR FROM BLADES

EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips today announced the acquisition of 18-year-old forward Graham Millar from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a conditional fifth-round selection in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

“Graham is a young player who we believe will grow into a solid member of our team and provide us with some depth up front as an 18-year-old,” said General Manager Garry Davidson.  “He’s a good sized guy at 6-2 and a right-handed shot who can play all three forward positions.  I’m familiar with Graham going back to his WHL Draft year and we’ve also had positive reports from Saskatchewan scout Garry Ryhorchuk about him.”

Millar (pronounced Miller) played 61 games with Saskatoon during his rookie WHL season in 2013-14.  The Penticton, British Columbia native scored seven goals and assisted on six others for a total of 13 points in addition to compiling 37 penalty minutes last season.  He finished the year strong with three points (2g/1a) in his last four games for the rebuilding Blades.

“I’m really excited to be going to Everett,” said Millar.  “I know they have a lot of great fans and when I played there last year the building was really full, plus I have a couple of friends that I know there like Tyler Sandhu and Carter Cochrane.  I’m going to try to start off with a good camp and have a big presence for the team next year.”

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound forward also has three Junior-A games on his resume, suiting up for the BCHL’s Penticton Vees twice in 2012-13 and once the year prior.  Millar spent his 16-year-old season with the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Major Midget League, totaling 15 points (7g/8a) and 28 penalty minutes in 34 regular season games before chipping in three more points (1g/2a) in eight playoff contests.

SASKATOON, SK –  The Saskatoon Blades have acquired a conditional 4th round pick from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for forward Graham Millar.

The pick Saskatoon has acquired is for the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

“Given the depth we have in front of Graham, this was a move we needed to make to bring in a good asset,” said Blades general manager and head coach Bob Woods.  “The trade will give him a new opportunity to play more in Everett while continuing our path to rebuild this team on the ice.”

Millar, a 1996-born player from Penticton, BC, was a rookie with the Saskatoon Blades in 2013-14.  The 6’2, 180 pound right-winger appeared in 61 games for Saskatoon, scoring 7 goal and, adding 6 assists to go along with 37 PIMs and a -22 rating.

Millar was an undrafted player, being listed by the Saskatoon Blades in 2011.
