AMERICANS EDGE CHIEFS – Justin Feser’s goal4:01 into the third period turned out to be the winner as the Tri-City Americans edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs in Game 2 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference semi final series in WHL playoff action on Saturday.
Adam Hughesman tallied his fourth of the post-season for the Americans, who scored the game’s first two goals en route to evening up the best-of-seven series at 1-1. Ty Rimmer made 23 saves to backstop the Ams to the victory.
Mitch Holmberg scored for the fifth straight game for the Chiefs, who were outshot 33-24 in the Game 2 loss. Eric Williams made 31 saves as he suffered his first loss of the post-season.
The series heads for Spokane, WA, for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday.

WINTERHAWKS 4, BLAZERS 1
Sven Bartschi scored a pair of goals as the Portland Winterhawks managed a 4-1 win over the visiting Kamloops Blazers in Game 2 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference semi final series on Saturday night in Portland, OR.
Cam Reid tallied his first of the post-season while Taylor Leier – with his fourth goal of the playoffs – also counted for the Winterhawks, who were edged 40-34 in shots on goal while earning their second win in as many nights in the series. Mac Carruth stopped 39 of 40 shots in a 1st Star performance for the Winterhawks.
Chase Souto scored his second goal in as many nights for the Blazers, who went scoreless on seven power play chances in the loss, and now trail the best-of-seven series 0-2. Cam Lanigan turned aside 30 of 34 shots he faced to take the loss in his first start of the playoffs.
The Blazers will host the Hawks for Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven set on Tuesday and Wednesday in Kamloops, B.C.

HUSKY WHL EASTERN CONFERENCE
WARRIORS 6, TIGERS 1
Quinton Howden scored two goals and Kendall McFaull chipped in four assists to lead the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 6-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers in Game 2 of their Husky WHL Eastern Conference semi final series on Saturday.
Eric Arnold, Kenton Miller, Justin Kirsch and Cody Beach also scored for the Warriors, who broke open a 2-1 game with four goals in the third period en route to their second straight triumph over the Tigers in the series. Luke Siemens made 14 saves to claim his sixth straight win.
Hunter Shinkaruk scored the only goal for the Tigers, who were without suspended leading scorer Emerson Etem for the Game 2 loss. Tyler Bunz made 34 saves in the defeat.
The Tigers host the Warriors for Games 3 and 4 of the series on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Moose Jaw leads best-of-seven series 2-0
OIL KINGS 4, WHEAT KINGS 3
Jordan Peddle’s first goal of the playoffs 10:55 into the second frame stood as the game winner as the Edmonton Oil Kings edged the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 in Game 2 of their Husky WHL Eastern Conference semi final series on Saturday.
Kristians Pelss scored twice and Travis Ewanyk also netted his first post-season marker for the Oil Kings, who trailed 1-0 after the first period but scored four times in the second period en route to their second win in as many nights over the Wheat Kings. Laurent Brossoit made 26 saves in the win.
Michael Ferland, Alessio Bertaggia and Ryan Pulock scored for the Wheat Kings, who went 0-for-3 on the power play while also holding the Oil Kings scoreless on three power play chances. Corbin Boes made 31 saves in a losing cause.
The Wheat Kings will host Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday and Wednesday in Brandon, MB.
