CALGARY, AB – Chase Witala and the Prince George Cougars welcome Connor Ingram and the Kamloops Blazers in the second half of a back-to-back between the B.C. Division rivals on Saturday night hockey, live on SHAW and Shaw HD channel 304 at (8:00pm MT/7:00pm PT).
The Kamloops Blazers won the first match-up against the Prince George Cougars 4-3 in a shootout on Friday night. Jake Kryski scored the lone goal in the shootout to help Kamloops extend their point streak to a season-high 11 straight games with a record of 8-0-3-0 over that stretch. Blazers goaltender Connor Ingram owns a 9-5-3-0 record with a 3.21 goals against average and .902 save percentage. Forward Collin Shirley is first in Club scoring with 29 points (16g-13a) to go along with a plus-7 rating. The Kamloops Blazers continue to show an effective penalty kill as they own a success rate of 83.8%, good enough for third-best amongst all WHL Clubs.
Chase Witala and the Prince George Cougars look to rebound after dropping a tough 4-3 shootout loss to the Blazers on Friday night. Witala is having a productive campaign for the Cougars this season with 10 goals and 16 points which places the 20-year-old forward third in team scoring. Cougars forward Jesse Gabrielle leads the Club in goals with 14 and in points with 22 while appearing in 23 games this season. Prince George holds a slim one point lead over Kamloops for third place in the B.C. Division standings. The penalty kill play of the Cougars has been a bright spot as they rank ninth in the WHL with an 82.3% success rate, including a perfect 3/3 in Friday night’s contest against Kamloops.
The Kamloops Blazers have won all four tilts against the Prince George Cougars, outscoring them 24-7 along the way. Blazers forward Collin Shirley has recorded nine points (4g-5a) while Cougars forward Jared Bethune has registered four points (2g-2a) in head-to-head match-ups this season.
